Dtret
I’ve never messed with a dealer installed vinyl top. When I was cleaning out the car of all the extra parts I found this really long “u” shaped piece of chrome. I initially threw it in the scrap pile but when I was covering the car I realized it fit the vinyl top. Is this the way it was done?
cny first gen 71
I belive so, I saw a lot of them put on when i worked at Oldsmobile dealer in the 70s but never really paid much attention because they had an outside vendor come in and do them. Rob Peters
Since a dealer had access to all of the original chrome trim I would think a dealer installed top might have the same trim installed at the factory. My guess it was from an outside upholstery-top shop. rob
MC1of80
A dealer installed top looked just like a Chevelle top. Long u shaped back piece is the only trim they used. The top went to both sides of the drip rails and down the a pillars in the front.
1970mcss
If I remember my dealership days, the top companies could bend the moulding on site or at the trim shop.
714024SPEED
That is the same top and molding that was on our Covid Monte when we got it. It was a dealer installed top by an outside company .
Dtret
With the round plain look of the rear one piece trim, it kinda matches the round plain look of the 70 halo front trim.
