Who have you tried? I have an auto but I always look to see if 4 speed will also work in case I win the lottery. Seems to me Heddman works try part number 68196 to start. Summit or Jegs are both good suppliers. I use both. David

Not sure if you are looking for full length or 3/4 or block hugger.

I believe Monteman71 used a set of Patriot 3/4 length headers on his 71-402 4spd. They fit great.

Go to: www.monteman.com and look for tabs on bottom of homepage for 71-4spd project pics.

Good pic of headers: http://www.monteman.com/New%20Project%2020037.html

I believe "The Original" Dougs headers http://www.pertronix.com/prod/ex/dougs/default.aspx#PassengerCarHeaders

and Sanderson (BB3 block hugger or C7 full length) may fit.....call 'em. http://www.sandersonheaders.com/Chevrolet-Chevelle/

....or you could try Doug Thorley Headers: http://dougthorleyheaders.com/

A lot of people use Hooker headers with auto's but not sure of a stick shift. Hopefully others will chime in.

John, I'm planning to replace the long tube headers on my '70 402 4-speed soon. I can't identify the brand of the set that came with the car but they are circa 1974 and have been "relieved" in several areas.

I've recently been advised by other club members that both Doug's and Hooker long-tube headers listed for a manual transmission will fit fine, but I don't yet have personal experience.

Welcome to the club! Hope you will join up soon and share some photos of your '70 with us.

I have BlackJack AK5000's on mine. Don't remember if BlackJack is a sub brand of one of the bigger guys or if it was it's own brand. I put them on in about 1983 or so. The AK is for Aluminum Kote. They fit perfectly. Don't interfere with clutch linkage or the brake valve on the frame.

Dynomax #86110 did the trick for my 5 speed.

Needed to be dimpled to fit the control arm mounts, though...

I have a Borg-Warner Super T-10 4-speed in my 1972 Monte Carlo with the original 454 in it. I am running Hooker Ceramic Coated Competition Headers in my car, 2" primary tube and 3.5" collector diameter. I am also running 3.5" exhaust all the way back, with the H pipe for tuning. It's a tight squeeze on the driver's side by the clutch linkage, but it does fit. The part number is 2455-1HKR and orderable right through Summit. Here is a link for you:

I hope this helps!

My Hooker headers, the same dia. as James but not coated, come really close to the break proportioning valve mounted on the frame. But it doesn't cause any break issues.
