Hey I figured you guys would know what all has to be changed for my original small block monte to be converted to hold a 427. I'm thinking bbc swaybars and probably different shock/springs are needed. I have a 12 polt posi that I'm currently building to compliment it. do you have any experience? smile thanks lol.

A small block fan shroud can still be used its a bit tight but everything fits with out any rubbing.

I seen one in person one time like this. Somone implanted a crate Big Block into a 71 and still used the small block shroud, Close fit, but evidently it worked.

Oh yeah it works. I usedmy small block fan shroud when I dropped in my 454. I have about 1.5 inches of clearance between my Alternator and the shroud. With no issues what so ever.

Thanks guys I'll keep this info in mind as I tear into my Monte; I gotta tell you though, If it was't for y'all keeping me inspired with your finished projects I wouldn't be able to have as much fun working on mine.

speaking of which, I hate to change the topic but do you guys know what four speed tranny the monte carlo had? I was talking to a automotive specialist as he was working on a 72 chevelle in his shop, and he told me that the hardest thing he was doing to it so far was modifying it to fit a muncie, and that its year model called for a saginaw. I'm just curious, thanks.

Pretty sure all 4-speed Montes in 1970/1971 were M20/M21 Muncie transmissions. No 4-speed was offered in 1972...

I'd stay away from that "automotive specialist" if I were you. I'm sure there were 4 speed Saginaws behind some 6 cylinder Chevelle's, and they didn't make a different floor for the Muncies that went into the V8 cars. Tell the specialist to look at the body mounts. They often shrink and disolve and you lose the clearance that was there originally.
