Polygraphite bushings: opinions welcome
S.Maug replied to Marks71's topic in Brakes and Suspension Tech
hello stangeba my 70 ss does exactly the same thing. but it's all original. I know the upper control arm bushings need replaced. springs weak. I did the rear many years ago with polygraphite and no problems or noises, other than tires burning out! ha ha. god I hate that noise. as time isn't on my side, going to try and get to that this summer with help from my sons. know that I rattle on but with only a year prognosis I figure what the hell eh! going with polygraphite. - Today

Here is a link to what Lutty's has. rob https://www.luttyschevy.com/search.html#!year%3D1970||make%3DCHEVROLET||model%3DMONTE CARLO||sxq%3DBattery cable

If you got them from opgi that explains it. It will have the manufacturer sticker on the bag. It was either M&H or American Autowire but I called them directly and they said that opgi has selling these wrong for years. They sent me a set.

Today I drove the 1970 Monte 60 miles round trip for work and drove the 1971 Monte 50 miles for a cruise-in. They both got a workout today. -
Polygraphite bushings: opinions welcome
Marks71 replied to Marks71's topic in Brakes and Suspension Tech
Energy Suspension makes the polygraphite bushings for PST. For front and rear they are about $60 less and the part numbers are almost identical. I’ll call Jegs tomorrow to see if I can confirm they are the same part. Otherwise I’ll order from PST. Rear/$159, front/$129. -
I drink a lot of water.

Dennis i am happy that you are drinking water!! lol

Years ago I replaced all my ft end with Red Polyurethane bushings. I think the squeaking started about 3 years later and still hasn't stopped. I think this is the first time I have heard of polygraphite bushings. THANKS!! I can make mine squeak with one finger pressing on the fender or hood. Keep us up to date on where and how much they cost. -
Dan, those look outstanding. Nice work.

Just ran across this and thought I'd share. https://www.ebay.com/itm/315352327487?itmmeta=01HXD8J1Q310NNX9KC4NVGD8QS&hash=item496c76a53f:g:alwAAOSwCktmON7k&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwM%2FMReGXsD6tHvOue6MYTJ3%2FUTJXTSLheuqOXCYF1powT8WqcTD9sPRPoa5yz1hkUfKF8CMi2mKNCSSqk1BTjsI4vx6mkH7xDwWy4WQoOwweANG7hWjJKb1gDbgRLdc2wmiFi1O6jYei9VO9%2Bwp7CkD97Q6UF4Lh0T8fnk%2BLiIKndHdi6OSm5GwnyjSoWqPvi1Zg1XkNhCeeipYngCe66ui2%2FUjliD%2FX65wxloui8Nt54DliMJAO1RcW1lzABiAykg%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9CbyKjrYw

The parts place has them part number EL1651M. $29.99
-
I'll find you something. It looks like someone did some type of hack job with a pipe reducer? EDIT: You're looking for item #3 in the diagram below , GM part number 3963317 A quick search shows a couple NOS ones on ebay for stupid money, OPGi for $29, plus what will be stupid shipping costs, and a likely delivery date of 'the day after never'. [EDIT: I just checked, it's backordered anyways]. Looks like 'Classic Muscle has it listed for $18, but says 'store is closed', - email or call. https://www.classicmuscle.com/p-1970-1972-monte-carlo-tray-support-bracket-3963317 The 'Parts Place' has one thru their ebay store, with free shipping (likely cheaper at the real store, but shipping factors in at that point) ebay-Parts Place Yeah, 21.95 at the Parts place, but you'd be paying to ship it: https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/product/1971/1971-chevrolet-monte-carlo-battery-tray-support-bracket/4507

Traveler started following Battery pan brace?
-
When replacing the battery found this attached to the inner fender below the battery, it appears it wore a hole in the pan near the bolt hole for the hold down. I think it’s a battery pan support. Does anyone know its name and a source to replace it? IMG_2002.mov

If you’re getting them chromed anyway, I’ll sell the ones that need it done. A lot less expensive for you. Let me know on that. Another thing, you said two sets( that’s fine) but if you know put them on one car then you can have the best of both worlds. And not drill 4.bumpers. I’m good either way. Get a price from them first so you don’t go into sticker shock. Let me know

Not for me. I was thinking for Steve. Thanks though. I knew you short on time, always busy.

Dennis, I've made a few pair, but I don't like to. Fabricating time is very hard to find right now and they are more expensive to make than a used pair normally costs. I can maybe find a pair for you, if you want some help. This is a pair I made. Dan
