  2. Yup. Sure sounds like you got bamboozled. I’m guessing Borlace is a gypsy surname? At least it has ‘BORLA’ in it. As in the exhaust.
  3. The 396 was bored .030 in late 1969 to improve emissions. The SS 396 Chevelle designation was continued because of the popularity of that model. In 1970 Chevrolet increased the stroke on the 427 engines and they became the 454.
  4. Well I have spoke to several individuals who had hands on this car from inception to seller and it's been a very baffeling experience. Spoke to original builder of this car, builder of the original # matching motor, Jared who made some changes to the car and last the seller. The story has many twists and turns with some questions still unanswered and some just not making sense. What I have found out is that it is # matching block but it is toast due to the rear main and crank issue it REQUIRES a rebuild. While looking car over more after returning from getting fuel the flexplate is chewing it way through the trans which now requires a rebuild along with the new motor. Also found the steering gear leaking, needs replacement. To add more to the wound a door hinge bushing let go while opening door only to chip the door paint pretty bad. So as much as you don't like the calling someone one out it is what it is and they are what they are. This is not just a set of bad circumstances I purchased a car that had known issues. Ive had this car to 3 different shops that concur the same thing. There is no way these issues were unknown by the seller I've only had the car 3 weeks or so. Weve only driven this nightmare 4 times before it began to fall apart. What my wife and I paid for this car this car should not have us going through what we are after 4 rides with last one now having the flexplate chewing its way out. We are not going to put any more $ into this nightmare. My wife and I are going to figure out what were going to do with what's left of our bucket list nightmare. This is a world we no longer want to be part of and Scott Borlace is what he is.
  5. Absolute beautiful car, extremely nice display in the background !!!
  6. I see they added some underside photos. Check out how the rear sway bar is attached. The trailing arms aren’t boxed. Haven’t seen that before.

  8. I think they look way better with the Misty Turquoise over the Classic Copper, but that just me.
  9. How about no options, This is my 1971 350 4 speed, bench seat never been restored or painted. It pretty stripped down with not much for extras. Paint code is 49 -11 or the D-99 option. Trim is not painted. It has no power steering but I love to drive this one. For some reason it seems to "float" a little less without the power steering option. Just don't get too close on a steep hill.
  10. So far running good. The engine has good power and doesn’t hesitate to go.
  11. Had mine out today to do some running around since my truck is in the shop again. $1100.00 last week another $500.00 this week hopefully that's it for a while. I do have to give a big shout out to Michael Boyte while I was in Myrtle Beach my truck was in the shop and he offered me use of his other truck while mine was down. Thank you so much Mike wish we could have got together also to Bob Bardeau for getting my truck in so quick and getting it fixed and I think a great deal too. Thanks to you guys.
  12. I finally got these wheels on the 1970 Monte. They look good. The sun didn’t cooperate with me when I was taking photos at the beach.
  13. If you do put in a 700r4 make sure it is a 1984 or newer. They started making them in 1982. From 84 on they were beffed up with a larger output shaft. I had one from 82 in a 70 monte carlo and I never liked the way it shifted. They have a throttle valve cabel that is very important to have adjusted properly and there is a special linkage depending on what carburetor you have you can't beat a TH350 or TH400. That's my opinion.
  14. In 1970 I ordered a Chevelle SS 396 (actually a 402) with the Turbo 400 and 3.31 posi. It was a great car with zero issues.
  15. Hi Steve. Welcome, and I hope your cancer treatment goes as well as my brother-in-law's did. He beat it and you can too. I can make the compressor brackets. I make them to look just like the originals and I can supply the layout for drilling the inner fender bolt holes, if needed. You can call 573-248-1389 anytime or email me at dpjfabts3@gmail.com. Dan
  16. Larry, I think I would just stick with old red. I personally think that your car is much more desirable ! And RED pops. People can't help wanting to look at it. Different class all together. And with that engine of your's, holy cow, people will catch themselves drooling !!!!

  18. Title says it all. Bought it and did not need it, I'm an idiot and needed the ac delete rather than this. $70. Thanks,
  19. Steve, i have sent Dan a text message that you are interested in the brackets and if possible working or non working compressor rob
  20. Secrets don’t remain secret very long here. We all have the gift of gab. lol.
  21. That's what I get for giving away my 'secret'! 😄 I was planning on watching and waiting for the Bilsteins and trying out the Monroes that I threw on the car years ago (and already had to replace one for leaking with less than 5 miles), but 25% off and waiting a few days for the usual $20 off $249 might make me add this to my parts collection for later in the year.

If you go to the tech archive category and click on interior tech-archive, there is a wealth of info on dash removal and repairs. A lot of good reading.
