  1. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I hope that I can help with any questions you may have and hope to be a good contributor. I still have the original engine for my car this one pictured is a replacement I put together for her.

  2. .030 402 10.5-1. AFR aluminum heads. Wiseco pistons, adj. pushrods. Harland Sharpe Roller rockers, .542 Lunati VooDoo cam, HV oil pump, Clevite 77 bearings, Weiand 360 intake and HV water pump. Not a huge build but great for the street

  3. Ive owned my 70 big block four speed Monte since 1984. She is an original triple black car and heavily optioned with such items as washer fluid monitor and map light mirror but is an non air car. The PO found the build sheet when he pulled the rear seat and gave it to me when I bought the car. It was built in November 69 in Van Nuys and shipped to a dealer in Perry, Iowa. Its still an Iowa car. I took her off the frame in 2008 and still get a lot of thumbs up when we take her out.

  4. Moved more stone today. I quit counting wheel barrow loads after about 85. Ran the tamper over it for a bit to compact it down as well. Then added the colored stone to the parts that are visible from the front of the building & tapered it a bit along the back side to cover the regular stone from view. Glad that's done...

  6. Hey Ron i was looking for one recently and found 2 types 1 with no writing on it and the other with a stamped GMC logo on it both look the same depth, i havent installed them yet. I didnt notice any part number on either of them, but will look closer later for you.

  7. You can take your original pan and knock the dents out with a block of wood. The underside of the car is going to take a beating anyway. If you add more depth to the pan it’s going to be closer to the ground. More beating. I like deeper pans cuz of more fluid capacity

  8. Your steering column issues sound exactly like mine after I replaced my steering box with a quick ratio version. Everything is splined with a keyed spline.. the pitman arm to steering box gear, the rag joints have two different sized bolts, the steering shaft has flat spots for the set screws, and the steering wheel spline is also keyed. What I cannot recall is whether or not the base of the column spline is also keyed, but as I type this I remember I have a spare steering column in my garage, which I will we take a peek at. Anyway, I have been told time and time again that an alignment will cure the steering wheel off center problem however having had 2 alignments that hasn't panned out for me, and my steering wheel is also skewed to the right of center pretty significantly. I will check my spare column spline and get back to you but if you find a solution to this problem please let me know. I feel like a Beverly Hillbilly driving along with a cockeyed steering wheel.

  9. The th400 on most trucks were the "deep" version. You need the pan, filter pick up tube and filter bolt and sleeve, all longer than the standard 400 stuff. Some places sell them as a kit. The aftermarket and transmission places, tci, ati, b&m, derale etc also have kits. I personally stay away from aluminum pans. Never seal fully and always have a drip.

  16. I got mine from the parts place. You need a bracket also. Blow up the picture. These were identical to the original that I took off.
