Been a Long Time But I Need Some Help
Monteman1971 replied to Monteman1971's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Thanks guys. It does seem that they are the same hose for big and small blocks. I did get one from Auto Zone and it's not bad but it's just a bit shorter than the original so although it will work it won't route exactly the same as the original. Steve -
Been a Long Time But I Need Some Help
Monteman1971 posted a topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
So it's been forever since I've been on the boards and wouldn't you know it... I need help. Still have my Monte until they pry it from my cold dead hands and I'm sure I could have posted this in a better place but here it goes. I need the power steering pressure hose for my 71 big block. Ordered one from The Parts Place and they charged me 3x as much for the same exact part I got at my local Auto Zone (part number and made in Mexico).... seriously. Problem is that it's a bit short and the wrong protective sleeve on it. Anyone know where I can get a correct hose on the first try? Thanks for the help. Steve -
Not for nothing but the best cooling radiator is a copper one and there are plenty of companies that you can get one from. Give it a google search. My understanding is the only benefit to an aluminum radiator is weight savings..... oh, and they look really cool!! My 2 Cents, Steve

Sorry to hear and see that....... these kids need something that disables their phone when behind the wheel!. Steve

Very nice!! Great find!!! Looks really clean. Steve -
Do you have a shield on the starter? Protect it from the heat.... You could start with replacing the leads if that hasn't been mentioned yet but for me it's always been the heat off the headers that kills the starter solenoid. Steve

Question on lug studs
Monteman1971 replied to cny first gen 71's topic in Brakes and Suspension Tech
I got the longer ARP studs and cut them down...It's worth the time and effort and you can custom cut them to what you need. If a tire comes off it's going to create a lot of damage to everything...ugly. My 2 cents Steve -
Great to see another rescue! Great starting point!! The paperwork shows sport mirrors right and left side..... so where is the right side mirror? Someone take it off along the way? Wonder if you can see inside the door if the holes have been filled? Steve

I have a K&N. It's supposed to flow better than any paper element. Best part is it's reusable. I clean it once a year. Steve

What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?
Monteman1971 replied to Canuck's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Had what appears to be an intake manifold gasket go bad and it dumped antifreeze into the engine. At first I thought it was a head gasket but after I took the intake off the gasket was shot so I did a compression check and everything checked out there. So I'm going to replace the intake gasket and keep my fingers crossed. Steve -
My avatar is of my 1971 402/4 speed. It's currently living in Canada. If you can find it, it was featured in Hemmings Muscle Machine Magazine, August 2006... Wow...12 years ago, seems like yesterday. I saw it last year at the Syracuse Nationals in upstate NY.....it still looks great! Steve

Replacing my 71 NON A/C heater core + a snowball
Monteman1971 replied to stangeba's topic in Interior Tech
Nice write up Bruce...Heater core is always a PITA job. Steve -
My understanding was that the originals had the bleeders. At least that's true for the 1971. Steve

There was the 402 big block offered as well so not necessarily does it have to be an SS. I have my protecto plate, window sticker, invoice and a whole lot of original paperwork but didn't find not one build sheet!!! Needless to say, I'm jealous!! Steve

Door edge guard installation help

If you can't get them on by hand, a rubber mallet will work without damaging them. I'll say that it always makes me nervous getting those on but I do have them on my car and think they are a good idea. Steve -
Looks like it's time to say goodbye Raceway park N.J.

I love this....move into a home near a race track and then complain about the noise and get your way from the politicians.......These blue states are only in it for the votes and pander to these people. Steve -
We need to see the vin number in the windshield area to determine that. Your other post in the General area has some activity on it you might want to go check but the Vin is what's needed to verify what you are looking for. Your first pic is the "trim tag" it only shows paint codes and what trim is on the car. Steve

The Official NY/LI Gatherin' & Ramblin' Thread
Monteman1971 replied to Rob Peters's topic in Local Cruises and Events
On the Island, during the summer you can find a cruise night almost every night of the week someplace and a majority of the Sundays there is a car show someplace. We go down to the Captree Boat Basin/ Park where the OBI use to be almost every Sunday morning when the weather permits Steve
