  1. I got the factory remote (chrome) style mirror and matching passenger side mirror from ausleys Chevelle parts. At the time they had the best price. Trim parts, Ground up, leo and Jared may have them also. Ground up usually runs sales. The mirrors for our cars are the same as the Chevelle ones.
  2. M38 is the 350 and M40 is the 400 trans. I have seen both the side mount and the pan mount brackets on the 350. The 400 I have only seen the pan mount. You cannot use a 350 pan bracket on a 400 and vise versa. The mounting holes to the pans are different. I'm would start with disconnecting the cable from the transmission at the adjustment bolt. Make sure the shifter moves to all gear locations. If all good there, you know the shifter is ok. Then with the shifter in park and the trans in park I would see where the cable locates compared to the adjustment nut. If off, adjust as needed. Also, if you want , you could also check with the shifter in low position and put the transmission in low and see where the cable end winds up. The arm on the transmission could be incorrect for your application. Hope this gives you an idea where to start. Good luck.
  3. There is an adjustment where the cable end meets the selector bracket . I'm not sure about the shifter having any adjustment. I don't believe so.
  4. I'm thinking it's timing related. I would look closely at the distributor. Especially with/at the points. I would either convert to a pertronix electronic conversion or the whole pertronix distributor and coil also. A weak coil can make the car run rough also.
  5. Agreed. Could be one of a few issues or one thing. Start with the easy stuff. On the outside of the engine. Wish I was closer to you, would love to help you out. ☹️ P.S.- how are the plugs? Fouled plugs do weird s**t.
  6. Hmmm. It always ran like crap? Could be cam. Not lined up properly or maybe not broken in properly and you may have bad lobes. Check the easy stuff first obviously.
  7. Take some pics and let's see what you have. Also, there should be a nut/adjustment on the end of the cable down by the transmission. Slotted bracket. Although if you have park-n-d in correct locations that probably is not the problem.
  8. Ok silly questions first, how was it before the engine swap? Do you have the correct th350 brackets on the trans? Possibly you have a power glide cable or shifter.
  9. Hi. Could be a ton of things. Check and see that #5 and #7 spark plug wires are not crossed. Very common. How's the fuel pump? Pick up in the tank? Where is the timing at? Is it the original timing chain? How many miles on it? Could be stretched. Vacuum leaks? How are the advance weights in the distributor? Stuck? Broken spring/s?
  10. Hope you return the air cleaner to the 402 car! Lolol
  11. Willie, there is a difference with the snorkles also between a 454 car, 402 and small block cars. All have differences. 714024speed just explained this difference to me yesterday. I will try to get him to chime in.
  12. That is great! Congratulations!!!!!! Looks like all had a great time!
  13. Can't speak for slotted rotors on our cars. I can speak for power stop pads on my 2010 Sierra with and without slotted and drilled rotors. With just the pads on stock rotors the truck stopped better. I then added the drilled and slotted rotors and WOW! What a night and day difference. Stops great in traffic and while towing now. Was ok stock, much better now! I have been thinking of adding drilled and slotted front rotors to my Monte Carlo. (The red 70) lolol
  14. The black rubber bumper fillers? Yes they are available from various suppliers. They are standard for the 70 Monte Carlos and found on some early production 71s. I feel they should have been on all 3 years. Just makes the back look better.
  15. A 2 bolt big block or small block will take 500hp. Do you have a big block? If not, added expense. New headers, pulleys, brackets, plug wires etc. Possible new exhaust depending on what you have now. Trans? 350? 400? Big block- highly recommend th400. 383 is a very nice engine.can make great power and depending on the other things, can be cheaper. 496- stroked big block= torque monster! All depends on your budget and your plan for the car. Cruiser, street/strip, etc.
  16. Looks great! Keep up the good work! And keep the pics coming! Lolol
  17. You are welcome! That's what we are all here for, to help one another. Glad all went well.
  18. It's your car Willie. Do what YOU like. Some will like it others not. I personally would remove it if it was mine. That's just me though. Lolol
  19. Hey Willie. That is from a Buick. Someone put that there. Looks to be the late 70s-early 80s "limited" emblem.
  20. Hey! All that looks familiar!!!! Lololol 🤔
  21. First time on the road, under its own power in 34 years! Before tire smoke. Lolol VID_20190831_212525_01.mp4
  22. Hello people, this week's progress... Bled the back brakes after tightening the stainless steel brake line some more. Also removed the rear drums to free up the brake shoes and hardware. Now have a brake pedal! Added bars leak, the original formula, to the radiator to stop the pinhole leak. Success there also. This is until I decide on either a new radiator or have this 4 core recored. Installed a new 10yr old distributor that had a pertronix already installed along with a flamethrower coil, new cap, rotor, a/c spark plugs and flamethrower wires. All of which my brother had "in stock" from an old (10yrs) project. Car runs better than before and it ran gooooood. Decided to test the brakes and trans shifting..... It shifts! Lolol Next should be an exhaust system.
  23. I believe it was a satin finish. I would believe it is easier on the car. Easier to tape off.
  24. My guess is someone had weld in ladder bars. That's whats left of the from Mount brace.
