Paul Bell
The 1971 parts catalog only shows one shock for the Monte Carlo, 3182144.

Monteman1971
So I'm wondering...did our cars come from the factory with "spiral" shocks or smooth casings? Out of all the Monte's I've seen and had, they all had smooth shock casings. Steve
sredmyer
What shocks are correct for the rear of the 1970 SS454?
1970mcss
Rear shocks are 3197337 (L.H.), 3197338 (R.H.) in the parts catalog 70 MC with load leveling

She is a 350/350, but I think you already knew that. When I redid my suspension over that winter after I bought it it had the original shocks and they were the spiral design. rob

Steve Correct answer is BOTH... the Small Block cars like Robs came with the Spiral Shocks front and rear as Standard Load shocks. in the SS and 402 Cars they had the Heavy Duty Shocks (Smooth) that were part of the F-41 Package. The SS cars had the Load Level Shocks in back that were Air Shocks also smooth finish. Darren
Dans '70 Z20
Goofed. Realized this topic was “front shocks” so I listed NOS rears I have available in a separate thread. Dan

Thanks, Dave
overdrive
It's my understanding that the original air shocks were gray. Dan
