Capri's 71 SS Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Vroom Vroom! Well, here is an option for an activity during the 2010 Eastern Meet this June. I ask that you vote ONLY if you have intentions of attending the meet so that the poll results are accurate. This is to drag race at Dragway 42. This is the closest facility to Norwalk and Sandusky. It is a 1 hour and 4 minute drive from our host hotel, Kalahari to Dragway 42 ONE WAY. Our options are to rent out Dragway 42 for our own personal use or to just go there & race during their normal hours. The prices are listed in the poll. For total facility rental please keep in mind the price shown in the poll is for exactly 10 cars racing. If there are less then the price will be higher. If there are more the price will go down. I am waiting to hear back on the rain-out policy & will post that once I hear. At this point I need to see what the TRUE interest REALLY is. It is easy for people to say "I want to race" and then we end up with 2 people. This poll ends early Monday Morning so if you know anyone who may be interested please tell them to log on & vote or send me an email if they are not on the boards. If you want to race but don't care when because any of the 3 options work - please let me know but vote for one. RAIN POLICY: Quote: If it rains during your rental, we can either wait it out, or just charge you to the nearest 1/2 hour. It is up to you. If you decide to wait it out, we will adjust your time for the time spent waiting. If it gets completely rained out then we will give you a full refund. I have not been to Dragway 42 but Bill/502ci has been there & has raced there so any questions please post them & I will defer to Bill for an answer.
72MC Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Capri, I think any of the first three would be fine with me. I picked fri just because I think more people will be at the meet by then. - Dave
jim's 70 Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 You are killin me now.....Ialready hated coming to the reality the the meet just wont happen...now you find the racing arggghhhhhh!!!!!!!
Monteman1971 Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Wow...that's inexpensive and I'm truely jealous......
David Mau Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 The Pretenders have a song called "Dragway 42". Shoot some video of yourselves tearing down the track and use it as background music! Dave
Jared Richey Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I voted Spectator, but this will be cool!
Capri's 71 SS Posted January 23, 2010 Author Posted January 23, 2010 But did you vote Mike? Please do somewhere Thanks.
Guest 72yellowmc,Robyn Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 good job capri on getting this started..... now only if i had a car .. ... I didn't vote because i won't be there unless something happens...
502ci Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 I just want to point out that the track is never crowded...racing on Friday starting at 5:30 for $15.00 is a great deal. You can get in as many runs as you would want...you could race come right back into the staging lanes and race again imediately if you wanted as that's how quick it goes. Later in the night it may get a little slower but not by much.
Capri's 71 SS Posted January 24, 2010 Author Posted January 24, 2010 More spectators than racers - not looking so good to add racing to our activity list in 2010 as it stands right now. We will try again in the upcoming year(s).
Mike 57 Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 looks like we will have to get some people to go during the regular hours.
Jared Richey Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 I think what Bill said is best, we should all get together and go on that friday evening.
Capri's 71 SS Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 That would be fine but it would not be a group activity - if a bunch of folks wanted to take off & go that is entirely up to them. Stay tuned for more options of activities.
Mike 57 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I was reading the limited information on the "Super Chevy" site and found this in their frequently asked questions. It would be nice if we can get this information verified. It would be nice to be able to quench our thirst for racing while at Norwalk Can I enter both the drag race and the car show? No, unless the participant has two separate vehicles, they are unable to compete in both the drag race and the car show due to time constraints. If they would like they could compete in the car show and the Bonus race or Test and Tune. Can I just purchase Test & Tune or Bonus race without being a weekend partCicipant? No, these two options are available only to our weekend participants. Super Chevy frequently asked questions
