  2. I have my 01 Monte sitting outside for the past 3 years. It has been under my old "Noah" California (I think it was called) car cover that was for my 72. Anyways I need a new cover and ordered one, my 01 is 195" long so I got a 200" one from a cheap manufacturer (probably my first mistake) and it would not even remotely fit, thought I was gonna tear it trying to put it on. I returned it today. My 72 is around 203+" long, is that about right? My 72's old cover was always baggy on the 01 but served it's purpose. So what I am getting at is those that have covers for their first generation Monte what is the length and also those that have the last generation Monte what is the length of cover you have on it? Also any suggestions on brands is welcome...needs to be outdoor rated though. One last thing...I am only looking for a cover for my 01 but it would be nice if the cover would work on both cars.
  3. It sure seems like it based on the combination of evidence. The transmission could identify 100% if it is numbers matching and has the 454 code. I think the “F” on the body tag clinches it but not everyone would believe that as it is not widely accepted yet. It is suspected that the F was to instruct the painter to spray the rear tail panel black for the SS. For resale, potential buyers may not trust that it is real.
  4. Excellent possibility. rob
  5. Opinions on if its real? 1 1/8" front sway bar, rear sway bar, boxed control arms, auto level switch above rear end, rear bumper with black rubber strip, upper hockey stick holes on tail light extensions and trunk, compressor bracket holes on drivers wheel well Baltimore body tag with "BF" bottom center options: gauges, power windows, power locks, tilt wheel Non matching numbers 454, transmission numbers matching unknown
  6. I would post more pictures but as I am completely a computer novice. I cannot and probably don't have the equipment to do that. I never signed on in the 80's for computers, the web, front wheel drive, and 4 and 6 cyl engines. always old school and stayed old school !!!! 🤣
  7. The local weekly evening events have returned..... Just a few photos.
  8. Battery ends gave me a similar problem.... I'd go for a drive, stop and get gas, and she wouldn't start. Found that tapping the terminals with a hammer would make the ends make contact and was good for a few more starts, then had to repeat the whole procedure. But eventually the poor connections weakened the battery, so I replaced the ends when I replaced the battery..... No problem since.

Be safe everyone. This year has definitely been a bad one for bad storms in many areas. When I first moved here to Pittsburgh back in 1972 tornado's were pretty much unheard of but that has changed over the years. From 1972 to the mid to late 80's we didn't have any but since then they have been more frequent. When I was stationed in Blytheville, Arkansas from 1969 to 1972 we had a number of tornado warnings. This year from Texas, through the mid-west and eastbound the tornado's have been almost too many to count. Stay safe out there and when these warnings hit find a safe place to hunker down. rob

  14. thank you Wayne. haven't beat it yet. just in the middle of it all . their waiting to see where the cancer remanifests itself. it's a form of leukemia after the pancreatic cancer. the waiting and uncertainty are as bad as the next rounds of chemo and radiation to start again in august. the neuropathy has me just short of a vegetable. but trying to stay strong. you have all been a great Strength to me . sure have needed it. again all thank you.
  15. Steve, life always throes a curve. I certainly have had my own health problems. It sounds like from the other guys that you beat the cancer. Now like Rob said, take one day at a time and just do what you can. I would like to see a picture of your of your SS Monte, even if it's not finished. Blessings my friend. Wayne.

Sounds like you came real close to some major s&$t Mark. Better a couple days of clean up and inconvenience than property damage (or worse).
  19. thank you all this part of my life wasn't expected you are a great group of people
  20. I made a quick run to a nearby Home Depot in my ‘70 4-speed (no gear selector) and it would not even click when I tried to start it. The neutral safety switch is disabled so I knew it wasn’t that. I had a similar surprise stall on my wife’s Lexus the year before and that turned out to be simply a slightly corroded, top-mounted battery terminal so I checked that. Sure enough, removing, cleaning and re-seating the battery terminals was all it took to get it started. I had never encountered that on a side-mounted terminal before. I suggest you inspect/clean your battery terminals. Good luck.
  21. Try moving your gear selector slightly when you are trying to start. That's how I found out mine was out of adjustment.
  22. I had this problem on my 70 with floor shift Turbo 400. The neutral safety switch was out of adjustment. On the floor shift cars it is at the shifter. On the column shift cars I believe it mounted on the steering column. If you jumper the switch and it starts ok you found that its the adjustment or a bad switch. It sounds like an adjustment issue to me.
