  3. In the event the seller forgot to ship the keys, it’s easy enough to punch the door lock with an icepick and then either peel the column and start the car with a flat blade screwdriver or yank the entire ignition with a dent puller once inside. Just kidding! Hope your baby arrives soon!

  4. Hi all, I've been lurking around here for a few months now, but this is my first post. I've found a lot of valuable information here! Thanks for that! Anyway, My name is Mike Sapia, and I live in the Texas panhandle. My dad taught me how to drive in his 71 MC, and I've been in love with them since. Unfortunately Dad sold his before I got my license, but I was finally able to get one of my own back in April. She is a survivor car! All original except for the obvious, and I also got the build sheet with her. She is just a base model with 350 2bbl/TH350. She has a couple of upgrades such as tilt steering, remote mirror, and premium hubcaps. She's not perfect, of course. She has a few little rust issues, and needs paint (still has original paint), but a very straight car! Anyway, thanks for letting me join the forums and hang out. If there is anyone here in my area, feel free to reach out! I have the only first gen around here that I know of!

  5. Aaron, here is my Tranny Tag of a TH400 matched to a 402 BB. Hard to read and might be able to get a better one if needed. Doug

  6. Oh yeah, especially in the early 90s before all the fancy ignition and electronics on cars. The old school car thieves would do it the way I described and would be driving away in under a minute. The less experienced would just break a vent window for entry. Two of the immediate telltale signs of a steal… broken vent window and high beams (stuck on high as a result of breaking that column). Throw in a few kids too young to be driving and it was game on.

  7. Haha! Thanks! I have been driving her all summer because I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do with her and where to start! I'm in no hurry since I can drive her now! I ordered wheels and tires ysterday, so I guess that's where I'll start!

  8. Yes, I believe the large C is for Chevrolet. And the small stamped C is also for Chevrolet. I may need to clear that up on that page stating that those are for the Chevrolet division. I may need to label the various codes in the image to make it more clear.

  9. If you are looking for technical information in regards to the various model codes like CR or CT decode to as far as what's inside the transmission ckperformance has some great charts showing the various combinations of clutch plate numbers, springs, plates, steels etc. Really shows the difference between a grocery getter 400 and a LS6 400 or a TH425 rotin

  11. Jim and Shelley are friends of mine and they now live in the St. Louis area. He still has the car and treats it exceptionally well. We attended a show together last summer, and we've also been to the Rt 66 Festival in Springfield, Illinois several times. The photo was taken of our SS454s together at a restaurant after the Festival at Springfield in 2018. It was featured on a TV show several years back. Rob, they attended the Eastern Meet in Carlisle in 2020, but not with their SS. Dan

  12. You just reminded me of something, Joe… Hagrid had the “Cone of Shame” on after getting snipped. Left him to his own devices while we went to a White Sox game and came home to this…

  16. I ended up using fiberglass Resin. I used a hypodermic syringe filled with resin and injected into each of the (4) problematic stripped holes in Dash Pad until slightly overflowing. Once dried, leveled filled holes and installed Pad. Screws tightened up securely and Pad has stayed in secure position last few weeks, so am very happy with result. Then I decided as long as was out, I would repaint Pad as well and repaired my Glove Box chrome Knob from falling of again by crimping around collar. It appears this Knob had been previously messed with and didn't really repair anything. To do this, had to remove cylinder from housing. Only other remaining issue(s) is A/C! I've had a New (NOS) Compressor Pump installed as rebuilt one previously installed leaked oil around front of housing. Recharged A/C, runs for the season and during winter, discharges. Guess I have not found the right Tech to get this loss of propellant resolved for me. 134A propellant compliant, so don't see that as a problem. Will also take her in and have front end suspension checked for needs and aligning steering wheel also. Was going to adjust tie rod ends myself but wanted suspension looked at and steering wheel turns almost 2 full turns to the right but only a turn when left. Then a mild cleaning and under the Car Cover until Nice weather again. Doug
