  1. Glad you got the correct one and it worked out great for you!! Looks good!
  2. Lol which one? My 70 SS -3823 made, 71 402 auto- 8633 or the 71 402 4 speed- 1 of 80? The 4 speed is being restored very slowly, 😭lolol P.S. I know which one you meant. Lol
  3. I stand corrected. Thanks Dan. I said screws because I removed 3 monster screws on each side when I changed mine. The hex ones I installed are larger than the originals due to that reason.
  4. If the only reason for using shorty headers is for the look of headers then do it. If you are looking for more hp then shorty's are not the way to go.
  5. Welcome Chris! Looks like a solid Monte to start with. The small block certainly looks stout! Keep the pics coming!!
  6. X2 to what Rob said. Screws normally. I had to use something a little bigger due to someone installing "big screws" in the old replaced ones and making the holes in the cast end cap bigger than needed. They were used on 70 and early 71s. I feel all first gens should have them.
  7. X2 but anything is possible. Possibly. Lol
  8. The mounting to the frame is also different. One mounts to the top of the frame, between the trunk floor and frame, another style mounts to the side of the frame, and the SS tip style mounts to the top of the frame but has the tailpipe clamp integrated into it.
  9. Those are the ones at Ground Up that came in a kit I purchased with the rear/tailpipe hangers. Ground Up also offers different style tailpipe hangers to suit your needs.
  10. Like Dtret said, the fuel pump would have a return line. Also look at the tank facing the rear end and look for a second line. My 70 only has one 3/8 line, well it originally did. Still has only one but 1/2 now. I personally have not seen a 70 with more than one line here in the North East. Maybe a california Monte did.
  11. We almost have twins! Lolol. Only yours is in much better condition than mine. 😁
  12. Sorry to say and others don't want to hear but that b&m converter is the issue. Will use anything b&m makes BUT the converters.
  13. Welcome John! We love pics here! What would you like to know about reviving a car that has sat a long time? Many of us have done that exact thing. My 71 402 "Barn Find" sat in a barn for 34 yrs before I started her up.
  14. Like our Monte Carlo, check and see if there is a lead from the battery positive to a junction block somewhere on the radiator support.
  15. Actually a tidbit, the SS emblem on the tail panel bolts right up to the existing holes for the "By Chevrolet" emblem. On 71's only. The spacing of the holes on a 70 is different. Ask me how l know. Lololol
  16. Just for thoughts, the price of re anodizing the rocker moulding is probably expensive. What about NOS mouldings or even aftermarket rocker mouldings that even come with the mounting hardware?
  17. Looks great Dennis! You are doing a first class job! Can't wait to see the rest.
  18. Just add the neutral safety switch to the tilt column. Just make sure you hook up the back drive so the column you install turns just like it would if it was column shifted. The only thing that is different from column shifted and floor shifted column is the "bowl" on the column. Otherwise they are all the same. If you really wanted to, you could even leave the column shifted speedo indicator there and have that work also in conjunction with the floor shift. Just saying.
  19. I just seen an NOS one on eBay. Check under 1971 Monte Carlo nos and 1970 Chevelle nos.
  20. Sweet!!!! Thank you!! She really looks better than the metallic primer look. Lolol
