  1. This is a general issue that I could use some guidance on... small block-- iron block, iron heads, aluminum intake--all oem..the corners of the intake corroded and leaked... sounds like it happens over time with the dissimiliar metals... what is the best coolant/additive, coolant /water ratio ,etc to minimize intake disintegration? also are rad caps with sacrificial anode a thought?? thx for any help!! Brian
  2. that does look really good!! nice thing is if any grill (like mine) shows pitting etc- you can darken it up, hide the sins and it also have a great end result
  3. thats amazing!! but maybe if you looked close enough there might be a handful of small parts in there... and what a cool donor car story...she gave all she could..right down to the last minute
  4. hi just saw this will look and see what i can find...
  5. isnt that a great feeling...and only if all problems- car or otherwise- have such a quick fix!!
  6. that brings back memories- if it was "jacked up in the back" somehow we thought of it as a really "cool' car - probably ridiculous - but in 1977 we said did and thought alot of ridiculous but yes we had more fun than responsibilities...and after 4 plus decades the pendulum of life is swinging back in that direction.. but nothing is getting 'jacked up in the back' anymore...only maybe my pants ...they do droop sometimes1
  7. thats another excellent video... "a modern world" "cutting edge computer technology" an absolute classic" ah, the way we were... thanks for posting!! brian
  8. im thinking the packaging at the plant is woefully inadequate... who puts 2 springs in a large box left to roll around without so much a cardboard paper wrap- most of the time if things are packed properly they survive the trip without a scratch...
  9. and if they had decided to run she need not be faster than the alligator...only faster than the husband.. .end result the same
  10. you would think that when they engineered that braking system they put in some extra capacity just like a weight limit on a bridge or anything else(we can only hope)... slowing down fast from 122 mph is assurance enough for me-sounds like the design is fine-its just up to us to keep that pedal high and tight and the gas pedal seems like alot more fun anyway...that other pedal we only notice it if its not there...yikes!!!
  11. probably best to look into a reconditioned fender from Leo if no luck on NOS...his shop goes by the old school "if not willing to do 100 percent ,then don't do it at all"
  12. first time I saw the 4 door monte i thought "so thats what a buick duece and a quarter gone bad looks like.....and still do!
  13. Tony I had no idea you were able to get so many great pics...i'm sure many will appreciate that you posted 'em here I know I do ("flip phone grampy" over here knows nuthin about f***book)---except some of the stunts they pull...we mustn't get into it... anyway thanks!! and it brings you rite back to the showfield as you scroll down thru..very nice!!
  14. ' "as far as I know right now?" haha if we are both this side of the dirt we WILL see you there my friend... .haha j/k of course but you know the drill... and yes I too want to thank Rob for heading up another wonderful weekend!! who else could get 30 cars , 60 plus attendees having a great time and call it a "mini" meet!! BRAVO!!!
  15. before I checked your link I said "i wonder if hes going with the wells vr715...seems to have gotten pretty good reviews...please post the result and how you like it...Thx!
  16. thats rite..we saw that 40% and said oh no...but now it is looking to be almost perfect...yes 2015 was an absolute washout and sketchy a few years after that...now a great forecast is bound to come our way!!!
  17. Yes Rob I thought that strange too...it was the "GM" nationals, with a wonderful collection of all things GM-you name it- montes ,great old grand prix, vintage caddys and impalas, ... buick grand nationals (hi Willie) name change didn't make sense...like renaming Ford natls the "country squire nat'ls"(wow that sounds exciting) anyway I'm glad its back to GM natls-only make sense...see everyone in couple weeks!!! Brian
  18. Absolutely would love to have a couple...awesome!!
  19. "the 2 girls" look great...but when are we gonna get a pic of you driving BOTH cars to the shows...I'm not doubting the capability,of course, just yearn for that pic...in the meantime ,its so great that driving season is again upon us-after another long ,gray winter!!
  20. Oops thx Rob for some reason I didn't see your reply my bad...but I am curious and will take a look!
  21. Rob i'm on the same page as Willie...how do you guys get parts?? how many are just saved and traded from non drivable cars, anything 'VVONOS" as in "very very old" ,or rebuild kits ,hand made,etc--after all, she makes our montes look like kids, and by the way the pics of your completed work-she looks great and very happy!!!
  22. I always liked the white/black full halo '70 combo...there was a car for sale in denver,NC a couple years back just like yours...just curious...is this it??
  23. That's gonna be an absolutely beautiful space!! and yea the costs of almost all trade materials is thru the roof!! for example, as you noted, pvc conduit up over 70%(they blamed shutdowns at the resin plants) carpenters are sick over the rise in a simple 2x4... and best of all...if you are planning on pulling copper thru those pipes.. same scenario... but on a happier note ,please keep us in the loop -it will be great and once you're in there- after all "its only money" and you cant park your monte on a 100 dollar bill... enjoy!!
  24. can you imagine...A Can you imagine...an LS6/four speed/SS/convertible...you know how they say "in heaven there ain't no beer"...maybe there's a car or 2 up there instead...
