  1. Looks like Nitto 555's .......... I am dying over h-e-a-y-a! Well which rims did you decide on? The anxiety is killing me. LOL Dan
  2. Good idea but it will work for about a day. Those inquisitive minds are going to open the ashtray for curiosity sake.......and as soon as they see the button they are going to try it. Unless of course the switch will be under the ashtray ..... then dad will never open the windows either. Young minds are like sponges. Dan
  3. Call Mark @ Sevitskes Classic & Customs. He wrote the book on "How to make your muscle car handle". Very knowledgeable guy who is a retailer for just abouT every aftermarket suspension part available. He will help you achieve your goal and stay within a budget if need be. 4. This one says it was updated in 2008 Oil Filter Comparison
  5. They make the hockey pucks above in a variety of sizes or they also make adjustible ones like these. http://www.budzter.com/spacers.html just remember If you want 1" higher in rear its a 1:1 ratio so 1" spacer needed. Height adj in front is 2:1. 1" height only 1/2". Spacer needed. Be careful cutting coils. Only remove a 1/4 cool at a time and check height. There was a super chevy article that spanned a few issues with a 70 Monte. I believe they ended up cutting 3/4 coil for a ____ drop. I'll fill in blank when I get home and check article. Dan
  6. Steve has a quiet set of turbos on his car but has the vacuum operated exhaust cut-outs. I believe his quote is: "When I like my neighbors .......... ( then hits switch) ............. When I don't like my neighbors" !!! LOL Dan
  7. The NOS Load Levelling Accessory kit I purchased came with everything from compressor to shocks and included a compressor with cadmium plated tank with cap. In fact Bob, I believe I sent you pics when I got it for verification. Who knows. Maybe there was a switch over at some point due to cost. The parts in the accessory kit I have are all dated '69. So maybe the early cars were cad plated and at some point they switched to black to reduce costs. ........ just another unknown surrounding the GM "wizard" and his mysterious ways. Dan
  8. Working links so no need to cut & paste: Moms car1 Moms car2 Moms car3
  9. Nice job Davey. The way things are looking here on the Island ...... I may be needing some insight in the years to come to keep up with these guys. Problem is .... they keep blowing stuff up and delaying my build further. Maybe I should just hang back until the dust settles and then place the call. LOL. Great bunch of guys here on Long Island and in FGMCC. The problem here is Greg with the all new as of Friday..... "Mom's Car" Dan
  10. I may be wrong but Bobs measurement of 11" is from the base of tank (where it meets pump)to the tip, not as Jay measured in the pics whichs seems to be front edge of the reinforcing collar on pump end of tank which is about an inch wide. Just an observation. Dan
  11. Cory, Looks like things are coming along fine. Love the color. Looks like you will make it at this rate but dont kill yourself. There is always next year. Love the polished tag to. Is that chromed or polished .... really allows you clear view of all the pertinent ID info. Mine will have to have its first showing next time 'round. It'll be close but Steve has some paint work & pulling vinyl top to peak underneath/replace which he wants to accomplish before Carlisle. At least she'll be cruisin' for summer! Dan
  12. Your car looks like it launches hard & straight (likely the Crazy Davey effect). Good job starting the year off right! Only trouble is... it will just be tougher to improve upon as the year progress's as we all attempt to do year over year. Dan
  13. A/C on. Engine wired, plumbed & detailed. Exhaust completed. Dash in. LED conversion complete. Custom wheels and tires installed. Interior arrived. We are in the final stretch and cranking along. Should be starting her for first time since 2001 in two weeks or so. Won't make it for Eastern meet but should be done shortly after. Updated my avatar ..... But do not know how to add other pics. Dan
  14. Steve always paints his white inside to make his lights as bright as possible. They are brighter than most and that is likely the reason. I'd go white for most reflection. Dan
  15. Just spoke to SuperBrightLeds and they say simply to match prong configuration with your original one and it will be fine. They do have two designs that look the same but said to pay attention to labeling of prongs to choose correct one if that is the case. I will do as Wallaby suggested and look locally. Dan
  16. Well just had my compressor rebuilt by Classic Auto Air in Florida. They also tested (made sure within arrange of accuracy) and restored my POA valve. Reckon it would cost a nice chunk of change to send him yours from France though. dan
  17. I just ordered the same as CBOLT for instrument panel (WLED-HP15 TAC in warm white) experimented with cool white and warm white. I agree the warm white blends better with the color of a 70 cluster. Got the brighter Stop Light & Turn Signal bulbs also WLED 1157-A45-T (AMBER) / WLED 1157-R45-T (RED) Guess I will have to look into a flasher or resistor upgrade next week. They close at 4pm and already gone. They list the flasher and/or resistors under "General" in the following link. Monte Carlo LED replacements @ SuperBrightLEDS
  18. Nice talking to you CBOLT. Thanks for your insight on bulb colors. I will likely follow suit based on your advice. Curious. Did you use white or red LEDs in the tail lights. Just wondering since you said they were not much brighter. Dan
  19. Still no big block. HeHeHeHe But a nasty damn 427 small block!!! Dan
  20. I have also heard the diesel trick no longer is valid. For reasons Robert mentioned above zinc levels have been reduced from them now also. I have heard Brad Penn ( Brad Penn website ) or Mystik( Mystik website ) still have oils with high zinc content. many restoration shops here carry them Dan
  21. Dennis which Super Bright LED bulb did you go with and what color. Looks like brightness you achieved is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks Dan
  22. I have two sending units in mine. Gauges & A/C
  23. I see you are in Wisconsin. So I am guessing your car was built in Van Nuys. On my 70 Van Nuys built SS454 I found one on top of gas tank (best shape) 1 under carpet and one under sound deadener under carpet. I am sure you'll find another. But either way, as long as the last six stamped on engine (either on machined pad behind alternator or on the vertical machined tab above oil filter) matches your vin tag your good as gold regardless. Nice find Dan
  24. Here is my question and info I received back from Randy in 2011 about his consoles for our cars. Subject: Do you make housings that fit 70-72 Monte w/burlwood trim? Date: Fri, 17 Jun 2011 19:10:43 -0400 Very good looking housings. I like the fact the look factory. Want to add gauges to keep track of engine vitals but want to keep stock appearance. Will these bolt up to any A-body dash and fit flush? I have a 70 Monte SS454. Same dash as Chevelle. Any pics of one installed on a Chevelle/ Monte? Any info appreciated. Dan ------------------------------------------------- Hi Dan, Thank you. A more factory looking appearance was the idea when I came up with these. Those chrome brackets just don't do it for me. I'm afraid I don't have any pics of one in a Monte or Chevelle. I can say that the 70 442 burlewood wood grain is a good match for the Monte Carlo wood grain. The mounting brackets you see on the housings in the pics are unique to the 68-72 Cutlass dash because I have a 70 442 but I can make a housing with out mounting brackets. Usually, simple L brackets are all that are needed to mount the housings in other cars. I will provide enough black painted head semi-tubular rivets for you to install brackets for a professional appearance. The standard housings are about 11 3/4" across the top, about 4" tall and 7" deep, front to rear. As you can see in the pics, the top three edges are all on the same plane. In other words, you could lay it on a table upside down and those edges would be pretty flush with the table surface. I am telling you all of this so that you can have a look at the under side of your dash with the above info in mind and see if you think there's a place where you could install it. Keep in mind that the 1/8" abs plastic is very easy to work with so if you needed to cut, file or sand one or both sides to mate up to a/c ducts etc, it would be easy to do. I also have a 71 Lemans and I had to cut a curved chunk out of the pass side to fit around the a/c duct. Let me know if you have any questions, Randy
  25. Be sure to go to a craft store like "Michaels" and get yourself some acid free clear protective pages. Like the scrap booking guys use. This will prevent further deteriation of your build sheet in the years to come. Dan
