  1. Purchased 70’ Monte Carlo SS 454 yesterday at GAA auction. Previous owner said that the car won at the Eastern meet at some point. I can’t get a photo to load so I’ll just describe and give previous owners name. The car is red with black top and saddle interior. It seems to have all o-toons for an SS but I don’t know a good way to tell if it is a true SS. I purchased the car from J Brady of Spartanburg SC. If anyone has any info on the car let me know Bryan

  5. thank you kpcsgasp nice looking 72. my wife will have to help me figure the picture thing out. I am a farmer and a retired gm tech, trying to beat pancreatic cancer presently, Been a fairly rough year. Im from Illinois , but with my wifes family in florida all this last year at moffit cancer center, which may i say to my fellow club members if any of you should ever suffer from that disease, i very very highly reccomend them. Feel free to use me as a reference! hopefully nobody will. looking for a compressor for my SS, the previous owner pulled because he said it did not work . he put regular shocks to rear and wasn"t realy into keeping her stock. i have been trying to find one for years. even if inoperable. she"s got 67,000 miles. Great driver. I keep her in Illinois. My other 402 girl i keep down here in florida, shes got 32,000 miles and is immaculate. she gives me a lot of comfort during my medical issues. I polish her every day I feel able to get outside. sorry everyone but i do go on, wife says hush up. ive always been known to be a big conversation fellow, havn"t been around friends in over a year. anyway feels greaT TO FIND A NEW WAY TO EXPRESS MYSELF.

  7. Welcome Steve! Being from Chicago I mistakenly read your location as Buffalo GROVE. Happy to hear you’ve found the FGMCC site. You’re gonna enjoy this group. And thank you for your service.

  10. Did you ever notice... on so many of the Facebook groups dedicated to the First Generation Monte Carlo how many Scam Ads and Knock -Off T-Shirt ads they have. If yes, have you also noticed that don't see much of that here on the FGMCC site or even the Facebook group that Aaron (Canuck) manages. That is because of the screening process we use here when someone wants access to post on the site. Even if some of them do get through it is almost always quickly noticed by our moderators and admins and those posts are quickly removed and the poster banned from the site. We rarely have members scammed on items posted for sale here and we rarely have to remove posts or ban people from posting. This is a very safe place to come to for your needs. rob

  16. I was hoping you were going to say EFI, then I would have suggested an internal fuel tank pump. Maybe somewhere along the passenger side frame rail, ahead of the tire. That's where I recall mounting a Holley Blue pump years ago on my old 72 Monte.

  17. These SS454 values are getting pretty consistent at 60-70k at auction for decent quality cars.

  19. The EBay link Joe (JFT69V) is a good company (Faxon Lit) Ive used them in the past. I would also recommend you track down a wiring schematic (not happy with the Faxon Lit product tho ) There is a company that makes a colorized laminated thats pretty nice. Grounding and vacuum issues can have you seemingly chasing your tail.

  20. Thank you again everyone for the great feedback, really appreciate it! I have order the books for now, but the CD will probably follow shortly haha. I am in the same boat with my VW Bentley book, pages bookmarked everywhere, but it sure is nice having a digital version to use the quick keyword search lol. The books will be here in the next couple of weeks, once I get them into his hands, I will bring him over to the forum so he knows there is a plethora of information available and a great community to shoot questions to if he can't find the answer. Many thanks, Tyler.

  21. I have to say there is nothing more satisfying to me than having a repair book that has bookmarks, oil and grease stains, highlighted and underlined areas, etc. I still use my Chiltons manuals for the Monte which are fairly well worn. I use those (I have 2 of them) way more than the assembly manual or the Fisher body book.
