kpcsgasp
Found this the other day and I'm not sure where it belongs. I have the round connector doubled back it supposed to run toward the firewall. I wanted to get it into the picture with the plug it starts from. MC1of80
The round plug looks like the one to the proportioning valve.
Mike Brichta
I think the round one goes to the AC compressor. I believe it was to shut off the compressor if there was no pressure in the system. Not really needed.
willie
I also think like Mike, its the back of the a/c compressor! If it was a brown wire it would go to the proportioning valve like Tom stated.
Dtret
If you’re going by color the a/c is green. This is black. Oil pressure switch? Have to see the inside of the plug.

Have to see the inside of the plug. On my 72 it had that plug on the back of the AC compressor. It was not required as my replacement compressor did not have it and mt repair guy told me that. It is still on the car tucked up somewhere under the hood
kpcsgasp
thanks to all the connection IS on the back of the a/c compressor.

Andy's Auto
It goes to the super heat switch on the back of your 72. It completes the ground circuit by measuring temperature and opens the circuit at around 250 degrees when working properly. If the switch is open, you can just clip the end of the connector and ground it right to any of the compressor mounting bolts.
