Glen
Had breakfast with my Dad and my second favorite mechanic yesterday. I’ve previously mentioned that Terry had owned a ‘71 SS that he sold many years ago, but he’s still finding various parts, memorabilia and literature etc. Yesterday he gave me a few “Super Chevys” magazines from ‘84 and ‘85. Attached are some pix and Monte-related articles… can you find the two unicorns? 🤣😂 Hint: one’s “down under” and one’s pulling the front tires off the ground. There’s a nice 2 page article on the ‘71 SS which appears on the cover of the July 1985 edition of Super Chevys “Chevy Show Place” Looks exactly like Dennis’, minus the bananas in the tailpipes And I’m definitely curious… were some of the owners as listed 40 years ago ever FGMCC members? Are these folks still alive? Are any of the Montes still around under different ownership? Perhaps some of you senior FGMCC members might know of these folks and cars. 11
Dtret
Thanks Glen, that’s great stuff. Side note, they probably already ate their bananas like I did. 😆 3

stangeba
Thanks for posting! After I bought my 71, my high school friend got a 71 SS 454, tan with a dk brn vinyl roof like in one of the pictures. Sadly he was T Boned while driving it, when a dump truck ran a red light. No injuries but totaled the SS 454. 😞

MC1of80
This is the one that is owned by Richard, from Brooklyn at the time. He now resides in Staten Island and still owned it.

I found it interesting that the LS6 was showing to be a COPO option, and only for 71. That must have been early info before GM apparently pulled the plug on it. After all, they only put 188 of them in the 71 Corvette.
Rob Peters
Glen, Thanks for posting that. I checked the names i saw to a very old membership listing I have and did not find any of those names. My old listing may not be complete but again, that publication was from at least 15 years before the club was founded. rob
