Grant MacPherson
engine wasn't warming up properly so pulled the stat and this is what I found. notice the pin hole in the housing, the paint was bubled so I scaped it off and found the housing rotted through. Better now than on the road. Couldn't find the rest of the thermostat.
1970mcss
Yikes, good thing you figured it out. Do you think the pieces are in the radiator?
Dtret
Get a magnet and go fishing in the intake. That’s not good.
cny first gen 71
I've got one if you need it, I put a chrome one on mine. Looks like it's in pretty good shape I can clean it up a little more if you want a better look at it.
cny first gen 71
I stopped up to UPS just to check on shipping, holy smokes let's just say an arm and a leg.
Grant MacPherson
I did go fishing, not even a nibble. How bad was the shipping Steve? I haven't checked here yet, thought I had one but it has a vacuum control of some kind in it. I don't think the piece will cause a problem, I have found frost plugs in blocks on rebuilds that have been there forever.
cny first gen 71
They told me $150.00 my jaw dropped, I was shocked.
Dtret
Try checking back after the holidays. They are probably doubling the price. Because they can.
Rob Peters
Try USPS in one of the "If It Fits It Ships" for a flat rate. It doesn't matter the weight rob

Grant MacPherson
Thanks for checking and I will get you to check just regular snail mail if I can't find something locally. I could always go with a chrome one but it would really stick out on a stock engine. Look like I only had enough money for the stat housing in the dressup kit.

SPLATT71MC
I sent a small flat rate package a couple months back to Canada and the cost wasn't great but not obscenely priced. I want to say between $20-30. Â
cny first gen 71
So I went to post office today they said appx. $25.00 to ship depends on exact postal code and the girl smiled and said my package was to small 😳 lol I have to put it in a larger box or even padded envelope and fill out custom forms (no big deal) so I guess I'd say about $40.00 will get it to you. I'd give it about a $10.00 value on customs paperwork. I cleaned it up and took some pictures. Not sure what the KC stands for but there's a number on it too. Let me know. I guess if you wanted to I could throw a couple coats of chevy orange on it too.
Scott S.
KC is, or was, an aftermarket parts company.
Grant MacPherson
thanks for checking things out, found a decent jobber one I can use for now, only $15. It will work until I can find one close.

The spear is available reproduction too (The Parts Place, Lutty's Chevrolet, Trim Parts, etc). I have a reproduction one on my 70.
Scott S.
But the nice thing is that Pat is local.... The shipping fees these days are mind boggling. I ordered a $26 hood liner from Parts Place, and the shipping was $47. OUCH !!!!
