  1. There used to be an old TV show called RT66 and a theme song called "You'll Get Your Kicks on RT 66". Speaking of 66, we are at 66 days and a wake-up until our first members start arriving in Carlisle for our Eastern Meet. Now, getting back to RT 66, who remembers that TV show or better yet, who has driven the full length of US RT 66? rob

  6. Never the full length, went from Chicago to Las Vegas back in the 60s with my mom driving. That is on my bucket list though, at least what's left of it. Was on part of it a few years back on the cross country trip.

  7. I learned how to drive in my mom's '75 Monte Carlo, Silver with a red vinyl top and a red interior ( back when they had other colors other than grey/black/ebony) I put a CB radio in, call sign KCR8847, the Silver Bullet. Those were the days of our youth...

  8. I use a seam sealer in a caulk tube and apply it over the seam. I then will take a paint stick or a plastic spreader and run over the bead once and only once to get that factory look. I've used paint brushes in the past and prefer the look that a paint stick leaves.

  9. Good afternoon, Finally got around to registering and wanted to give everyone a Hello! I've been a lurker since I bought my 71 several years ago and nearly made the western meet last year. My car was wrecked and I didn't get it done in time.. Fact is, there is a lot more work that needs to be done to make it road worthy again. I hope everyone is doing well and thank you for adding me to the group.

  10. Welcome Curtis!!! Dennis is showing the correct part, and Steve is correct by saying not so hard of a job, just cut the tabs off and a little punching. As long as the bushings don't spin you should be fine

  15. Welcome Curtis. Great group here. Most likely you can just replace the pin and bushings. If you open the door all the way and have someone move the door up and down you should be able to look and see exactly where itโ€™s moving. If the bushings have been gone for awhile the holes in the hinge will be hogged out. Then you will need hinges. Pin and bushing kits are readily accessible.

  16. Cut my front yard partially once but had to stop because it's too wet. When I pulled my zero turn out of my shed I knew I was in trouble when I got it stuck 20 ft. from the door. Problem with zero turn they do not have a solid rear axle like a tractor and wet grass is your enemy. ๐Ÿ˜•

  18. The he11 with the mowing our lawn, I am starting to build an Ark. It will need to be large enough to fit my Model A and Monte in along with our kids and grandkids. I have been able to cut our grass once. Now the hedges need trimmed too. This yard work stuff is going to be cutting into my car cruise activities soon. Plus I need to bring the Monte here to the house so I can get the oil and filter changed and the new plugs, plug wires, points and condenser installed and check everything out in prep of the car cruise season and of course the Eastern Meet. rob

  19. I must be a gluten for punishment I finished up my 3rd cut a week ago and it needs it again. My rain gauge is only showing about .7" of liquid snow and I have not emptied it in the last week. Maybe tomorrow afternoon I can fire up the trusty Kubota and get my fourth in. Meanwhile I have gotten the headers bolted up but ran into a snag putting the ac bracket over the headers. I took it off OK but one of the brackets must have shrunk because I cannot get the front bolt into the head it is setting about an 1/8" low ??? do not know why because it came off very easily unless the head is taller but everything else has lined up perfectly. Oh well I needed a break anyhow.

  20. Hey Nick, Welcome back! Seems like you have a pretty good path carved out. That compression ratio is pretty high though, possibly even with the planned open chamber heads. Ask questions from the cylinder head manufacturers that you contact. Lot of people have had trouble with the Sniper systems, as seen on the Holley tech forums that I used to frequent quite often (haven't been there in the last couple months). Could be due to the sheer volume they sold, so problems are in proportion to that? They came out with a Sniper 2 that was supposed to address the issues, but I haven't followed to see if they are better. May want to join the Holley tech forums, do some research first. I have the Holley Terminator Stealth EFI, with Aeromotive fuel tank/pump and have had good luck with that stuff. I also have the ECM control the ignition timing as well. Not sure if the Sniper systems will support that. Something to look into as well perhaps. Now's the time to possibly dump the Sniper, before you get too far. That being said, ask ten people, get ten different answers. FWIW, I have the Terminator stealth system on my Monte & Z/28, very happy. Are you planning to run tail pipes? those make a big difference in noise/sound quality. I have 3" Flowmaster Series 40 Delta Flows on my Camaro with big roller cam, etc. They sound pretty good thru 3" tailpipes. I have the Super 44's on my Monte at 2.5" all the way out back That system sounds good, but a much different engine (454 LS6) than the Camaro. I did try the Super 44's on the Camaro, but ended up with the 40 Deltas on that. Some people here (Tom F) hate the flowmasters, but I also tried his preferred mufflers, and didn't like them, so it's a subjective choice. Post some pics too, we like a lot of them.

  33. Took the first ride since the new battery a month ago. Cranked very quickly and fired up faster than I expected. Took a short drive and all is not too bad... 1- Trans leaking 2- Plastic right inner fender cracked (nothing new) big time.

  35. Rear shocks for me too, had a very small air leak I thought was the old shocks. They were a bit spongy anyway so New shocks and still very small leak (a few days to leak down) . So the hunt was on, soap water and trouble light in hand found a couple of fittings on level control unit leaking. Test back on so hopefully that's it.

  40. Larry, knowing your car it does not surprise me that you would like Aaron's wheels and that is OK. That is what makes us here so great, different tastes without dissing someone's ride. I personally like the "Stock" look. rob

  42. If one is going to that extent, would the use of tires that were not sized from the factory be considered an alteration ??? I don't remember seeing B.F. Goodrich p255/60r15's on any G.M. order sheet.....

  47. I don't care mine is still in street category. One year I was parked next to Jack's car when judges came around, they spent about 10 minutes looking at his and then looked at mine and walked away after about 30 seconds, but that's ok, a little rude but ok ๐Ÿ˜…. They can disqualify me if they want, I don't really care. Like I said I'm there for the fun not awards. Mine is mostly original unrestored car with the changes I wanted to make.
