OK everyone, I just wanted to make sure everyone realized it WAS an April Fools joke.  I figured I better announce this because I got a text today from a member asking if it was indeed an April Fools joke.  I didn't want anyone canceling their plans and room reservations.

I think a lot has to do with what you grew up with. For most, not all. There’s a lot of great vehicles out there that aren’t bow ties. To each there own and I’m ok with it. I grew up with Montes. My dad had a 71,73,76,80 and 84. Mom had a 76. My first was a 77. I’m so bow tie loyal that I won’t even get a GMC. Lol. And they make a better truck, option wise.

Really!!!  O man. I called and canceled my reservations. Crap. Now I probably won’t get a room. LOL. Ya I got it. 😂

No problem Dennis, you can stretch curl up in the back seat of your Monte sleep there and sneak into the lobby rest room to wash and take care of business, or if you tip high enough you could take care of business in the fair grounds rest room.

Dennis,

That is partially true.  For me, for as long back as I can remember my parents were GM owners with the oldest one I can remember it was a Pontiac with a light up indian head hood ornament.  After that Pontiac it was always Chevrolet's.  As many of you allready know my first car I bought back in the spring of 1966, when I was 15 was a Blue Oval and 56 years later it is still kicking.  It is my 1929 Model A Tudor Sedan but back then I think they were built better.

My interest in the Model A Ford Blue Oval started when I was 9 years old and we were driving from Jacksonville to Tampa, Florida to visit my grandparents and we saw this long line of Model A's going in the opposite direction. When I asked my dad what they were he told me they were all Model A Fords and at that time I said out loud "I'm going to own one of those one day" and with a doubting tone in my dad's voice he said "I'm sure you will."

I immediately started saving my money.  Back then I earned my money by cutting many of our neighbors yards, pulling weeds, cutting hedges and anything else I could do for the neighbors to earn money.  Once I thought I had enough money I saw that Model A Tudor Sedan sitting in a car port and started to bug the guy to sell it to me.  When I finally told me dad about it and he asked me what year and body style it was and when I told him it is a 29 Tudor Sedan he  smiled and said, "my first car was a 1929 Ford Tudor Sedan"  so at that time I saw it as a sign that I needed to buy that car and my dream came true.

Other than my 29 Blue Oval 29 blue oval, I have never owned anything except a GM vehicle.

I have had two furds. a 59 Fairlane junker never got any heat in that thing and my dad had it for 5 years and me only 3 weeks and a Escort woody wagon my daughter fell in love with. We test drove it and it ran and drove good went and got the money paid for it and every time I stopped at a red ligjht on the way home it died and we never got it to  running and sold it 6 momths later, A good friend gave me a 1968 Yellow and Black  Dodge Wagon with the tranny out. $85 later it had a junk yafrd tranny in it and drove it for 3 years, That old Dodge never faild to start no matter how cold it got and really was a great car. Those are the only non GM's I have ever had.

When I was 16 years old, I made a deal with a guy on a 72 Gran Torino Sport. He backed out at the last minute because his wife didn’t want him to sell it. The following week I found my 71 Monte. I wasn’t crazy about it at first, but it beat driving my dad’s 67 C10 pickup. I bought it for $1,425 and made it my own. The rest is history! 43 years later and I still own it. I’ve been selling new Chevrolets for 33 years. No telling where I would be now if I had bought that Ford.

Probably at a Starsky & Hutch event dressed up like Paul Michael Glaser or David Soul, slappin’ around Huggy Bear for the latest word on the streets.
