Incidents like these become more prevalent when consequences no longer act as a deterrent. There needs to be universal truth in sentencing, no time off for “good behavior” and disposition needs to be swift, not drawn out over years with multiple continuances. You probably wouldn’t believe how lenient the criminal justice system is here in Chicago, Cook County. I’ve seen people charged with MURDER released on EM. And with the implementation of the “No Cash Bail” law this year, all but the most serious charges allow arrestees to be released from the station right after being charged and booked. As painful as it is to learn that two more LEO’s were killed in the line of duty, some consolation is to be had knowing that the offender was permanently removed from this planet in return. He’ll never have the chance to do anything like this again. Traffic stops and Domestic Disturbances are the two deadliest types of calls/jobs for coppers. I’m not armchair QBing, just merely commenting… but bringing your ‘A’ Game is mandatory as there’s no such thing as a “routine” traffic stop. Our policies here are so restrictive when it comes to vehicle pursuits, motorists in “certain neighborhoods” have taken to just refusing to pull over as they know the likelihood of being chased is slim to none as supervisors routinely terminate pursuits for everything. So I guess this in ONE way to minimize exposure to a stop going sideways. RIP Officer Micheal Jensen and Lieutenant Michael Hoosock. EOW: 14 Apr 24.6 points

Ditto on what Willie said. Blue is still sleeping. Green got moved around a couple times. At the rate I’m going Blue will get uncovered until right before I load it up for Carlisle.6 points

The ‘71 came out of hibernation Friday. The ‘70 was extracted from her cocoon today. Both gave me no issues starting and felt great on the 10 - 12 mile initial ride. The AC compressor on the ‘71 gave up the ghost (the pretty green dye in the refrigerant matches the Lime Green Poly perfectly 😂), but whatya gonna do? New compressor already ordered and hopefully delivered and installed in time for Carlisle. PS - the day I figure out how to get pictures loaded in sequence is the day Dennis’ feet don’t appear in his pictures6 points

Spent the weekend getting her ready for spring.... IF that every comes. lol Changed oil & filter, lubed the front end, re jetted the carb, chased that "mystery wire" down, pulled the rear seat.... and "no", there's no paperwork tucked in there. Put the re conditioned dash and battery back in, added a squirt of gas down the carb...... And "BINGO"!!! She fired right up. Now, just need to get the new tires on and wait out the snow the weather woman says is coming tonight.3 points

Hello I'm Brant K and want to say hello to all first gen owners. I've had a total of 4 first gen MC's [3 back in highschool] which has been a while-63 now- and with my recent purchase of a 1972 MC custom {blue} which was owned by Jared Richey a few years ago. I'm trying to gain more information on this car if at all possible from some of you who may know him and or would like to speak to Jared about the car. If anyone would like to pass on my number to Jared please do so. 734-560-8834 Thanks and have a great evening Br2 points

2 police officers in our local area were shot and killed last evening. One was a Syracuse police officer and the other was an Onondaga County deputy sheriff. The names have not been released yet but the suspect was also shot and killed. I have friends and relatives in both departments as far as I know so far it wasn't anyone I do know. Our hearts go out to the families of the two fallen officers.1 point

If we are talking about the same thing, it's the switch that will turn on the parking brake "warning light" on the dash. I forgot to plug it back in one time and I drove the car 5 + miles with the parking brakes ON!! My Monte Carlo, is a 1971. I don't know if that matters. Not sure but the return spring (that releases the tension on the rear brakes) is part of the parking brake cables (I THINK) The {GROUND} screw I have an arrow pointing to, is the ground wire attachment point for the dashboard harness.1 point

Yes Joe, you are correct, I hate the flowjunk mufflers. Lol. I personally like and recommend the ultraflo mufflers. Way quieter and all the cars in F.A.S.T. run these mufflers. They flow way better. BUT... like you said, to each their own choice. Here's a quick video. Doesn't really do the mufflers justice. Quiet inside, little roudy outside through tailpipes. PXL_20211016_192442224.mp41 point

Hey Nick, Welcome back! Seems like you have a pretty good path carved out. That compression ratio is pretty high though, possibly even with the planned open chamber heads. Ask questions from the cylinder head manufacturers that you contact. Lot of people have had trouble with the Sniper systems, as seen on the Holley tech forums that I used to frequent quite often (haven't been there in the last couple months). Could be due to the sheer volume they sold, so problems are in proportion to that? They came out with a Sniper 2 that was supposed to address the issues, but I haven't followed to see if they are better. May want to join the Holley tech forums, do some research first. I have the Holley Terminator Stealth EFI, with Aeromotive fuel tank/pump and have had good luck with that stuff. I also have the ECM control the ignition timing as well. Not sure if the Sniper systems will support that. Something to look into as well perhaps. Now's the time to possibly dump the Sniper, before you get too far. That being said, ask ten people, get ten different answers. FWIW, I have the Terminator stealth system on my Monte & Z/28, very happy. Are you planning to run tail pipes? those make a big difference in noise/sound quality. I have 3" Flowmaster Series 40 Delta Flows on my Camaro with big roller cam, etc. They sound pretty good thru 3" tailpipes. I have the Super 44's on my Monte at 2.5" all the way out back That system sounds good, but a much different engine (454 LS6) than the Camaro. I did try the Super 44's on the Camaro, but ended up with the 40 Deltas on that. Some people here (Tom F) hate the flowmasters, but I also tried his preferred mufflers, and didn't like them, so it's a subjective choice. Post some pics too, we like a lot of them.1 point

I learned how to drive in my mom's '75 Monte Carlo, Silver with a red vinyl top and a red interior ( back when they had other colors other than grey/black/ebony) I put a CB radio in, call sign KCR8847, the Silver Bullet. Those were the days of our youth...1 point

Yes, that's my car before the bodywork was started. I think Jared S was saying that he'll leave his vinyl top on for as long as possible to avoid having to do bodywork. I get that, sometimes I wished I left my car alone and drove it. In the end, mother nature always prevails and you'll either have to do repairs, or sell it and move on to something else. Thanks for all the positive comments. I'm real excited to see color on this soon.1 point

Doing the inside of stuff and underside of stuff is a real pain but has to be done for sure. Been there done that. Looks great can't wait to see it in color.1 point

The one guy was a lieutenant deputy with sheriffs department he has worked on SWAT and the bomb squad and warrents. Also an EMT for the local ambulance service and a 16 year veteran of the local fire department that serves my area. The other was a police officer for only 2 1/2 years with Syracuse pd. The lieutenant has left behind a wife and 3 young children. Very sad.0 points

Terrible news indeed. I was texting with Glen at the time last night when the local news here mentioned it. At the time there were no details on their condition and we were hoping they would be OK. Damn...0 points
