tttm2
Hi guys, I’m a newbie to this site, I have a 1972 Monte Carlo I bought in 1986, originally a small block, bench seat, the only option was fender skirts. No other options at all. No vinyl roof, golden brown with black interior. I’ve been doing a frame off resto/ mod, almost done now. Still Mostly original paint (never seen snow), I’m hopefully attaching pictures to this post, I have over a thousand taken during the Rebuild. So good luck to all, anyone who is looking for some advice, I’m always available as I’m retired now. And I have to add during this pandemic I am completely isolated, hope everyone is safe. Also I should probably note it’s now a 555 CI big block with a TH400, manual shift, 12 bolt posi rear end, coil over suspension, Wilwood disc brakes on all 4.
Leghome
What is the paint code on that color? I think it is the same as my 72 came with when new back on May 20, 1972. Just went out and looked at my code and it is
tttm2
Yea, it’s 57, I did have to paint both front fenders, the rest is original
MC1of80
Welcome to the club! You have done alot of work. She looks great! Why the sideways sump in the tank?
tttm2
I needed more supply of fuel so I modified the original tank to supply it, it’s a 10AN line, the other is for draining the tank, I just posted a picture of the tank to pump line

Rob Peters
Tim, You have done some beautiful work on that Monte. That paint is great for it being the original paint other than the fenders. You say it has never seen snow. Where did the car come from originally that this would be possible, being that you are in Ontario and did not get the car till 1986. How many miles are on the car? Just a note, one of our members, Dan Janes, has developed and has applied for a patent on a conversion slap shifter plate for that type of shifter, If you don't have something like that you should check with him. Dan Janes screen name is "overdrive". Do you have a projected completion date on the car? rob
MC1of80
Again, great work. I understand the reasoning for the sump. I have drag raced numerous cars with sumps. The question is why the sidways mounting? The lines should be facing the rear bumper for the theory of the sump to work properly feeding the fuel pump fuel. I have never seen a sideways mounted one. Not saying it's wrong, just questioning.
tttm2
Hey Rob, I bought her from the original owner, he never took it out in the winter, I haven’t either, it is a Canadian car. I bought it with 29000 miles on it, I put another 100 k on it before I took it apart, it sat for 25 years because my son wanted to race go karts, he got my car money, grown up now so I’ve been putting it back together

So, what is the projected completion date.... Not that they are EVER finished. rob
tttm2
I’m hoping this summer, still have to dial in the brakes, suspension, that will take a while, I have to go to a road track and race my son, probably will dial it in a lot more then, he’s of the option that old muscle cars are not capable of handling, he will learn
MC1of80
You will most likely starve the pump of fuel on right hand turns with the way the sump is mounted. Just saying.
tttm2
Yea if I don’t have a full tank, I do because I want the weight on the rear, so far I’ve had no issues with it yet
