  1. Today 86 years ago, my Grandfather, Gottfried Stange, purchased a 1937 Dodge Pick-Up. He paid $479.75 from Hodges Dodges Ferndale Michigan and may have included a trade in of a Model T. One of my older brothers purchased it from Grandpa, in 1964 and still owns it! Here is a picture in of it in 2010, shortly after he restored it. This is part of the reason I still have my 71 Monte Carlo.

  2. Yes we have. This was taken 2 blocks North of where Grandpa lived and behind it is my Monte, sisters Firebird w OHC 6, then her husbands 39 Chevy and our nephews 57 Chevy, all going to the Utica, Michigan car show in 2009. Good times! No guns were ever at or with our Grandfather.

  3. OK, I have already taken too much of your time but if I didn't mention these two vehicles, I would be sad. The Anglia was raced by my Brother in-law and two of his friends till about 1973 I think. It was sold and the second owner still has it! Top picture was at COBO Hall in Detroit for the big car show, AUTO RAMA. (That same car show is going on TODAY!) The TR-3B is still in the family since 1967 and just underwent a full body off resto about a year ago. I did a low buck resto in 1973 on it also.

  4. Michael, We do have some members that were planning to attend and I am sure the members attending will promote our membership. Will we have a large group in attendance, I can't say for sure. We have our Eastern Meet in Kentucky in Somerset, KY in May. We have a Mini-Meet in Carlisle PA in June and another Mini-Meet in Syracuse, NY in July. On top of what we are doing out in the East we also have an upcoming Mini-Meet in Summerland BC Canada in May and a Western Meet in Logan, UT in July. So, as you can see we are out there at many events promoting our club You have been very upfront about not wanting (actually refusing) to join the FGMCC but we have allowed you to promote your gathering here on our site. Come on man, it is only $25.00. The hosting for this site is paid for by the dues from our dues paying members of the club. It is not a free club to run. It costs money to run a club and being that we are a club dedicated to the First Generation Monte Carlo it limits us to only 3 years of production models to draw from, I feel we have done well to keep this club and website in operation for going on 23 years. We are a very dedicated group. As far as attending your get-together as a group is a difficult thing because we would not be able to participate directly with your group as a club function. One of the reasons are insurance related. Our club is insured so any member attending a club function must be a dues paying member for our our insurance to cover us. Since your group is not insured I personally would not plan to attend. To come onto our club site, where we have allowed you to advertise your event, and criticize us for not attending your event just doesn't make sense to me. It sounds like you have gotten a lot of participation already so why would you come here and knock our club for not attending as a group. It is my hope that some of the members of our club who are planning to come don't back out, nor am I going to encourage them to but your attitude toward us does not encourage participation. rob

  6. Pretty comical & ironic, considering we've asked you both privately & publicly to become a dues-paying member of the FGMCC numerous times. Actually, it's not comical, it's insulting to the supporting members here. That takes balls.

  7. The bushings will still only go in one way. Here are a couple of pics from the web. Like Tom said, one side of the bushing has a shoulder, the control arm will have a corresponding larger hole to fit that shoulder. It's basically a square peg/round hole situation.

  8. The 25" Chrysler engine, from a dump truck, has twin carbs and a T-5 five speed trans. My brother still has the original 25" long engine in his garage. I forgot how many cubic inches this one is, 250?

  9. I thought they all came from Tonawanda, didn't know there was another engine plant.

  10. It was the scheduled second car started to be built on 6-24. Not necessarily the final build date. My 71 Cali car was 12 09-12. Vin 110678. So it was the 10678 car built for the 71 model year. Hope this helps.

  12. The bushings will only fit one way. The side with the collar/ shoulder is a little bigger than the side without.

  18. I've seen the same factory mistake on the engine stamp once before. It happened sometimes. I think you can be very confident that the car has the original engine. Dan

  19. The first set of felts I got for mine were the wrong ones, think they were for wide belt moldings second set fit perfect don't remember where I got them but the ones shown appear to be correct. Didn't have to change weather stripping it was still fine. I guess make sure it can be returned if it's the wrong one. Probably the OEM one would be the best.

  20. YUK! That black 70 should have gone for maybe $10k...Man! what a ROUGH CAR! Whoever bought it better be a body man / painter! Depending upon what's discovered once sanded down, I'm sure it would cost $25,000 just at the bodyshop!

  21. @FrankOC The 71 SS went for $39k. More than I expected!

  22. Hey Frank, no, I didn't look at the 71. I knew I wasn't interested in it so I totally forgot about it. I hope whoever bought the black one enjoys the car and brings it back to its full potential!

  23. I have the custom window felts on my 72 and they worked fine I did have to do some minor tweaking but was fine other wise. The weather stripping I cannot answer about and probably the felt answer does not fit your needs. I have had very few problems with anything I have ever purchased from them

  24. You could get the Cruise Control dealer installed on the inner fender behind the compressor. I know of a member’s 71 SS that was ordered this way. I’ve never heard of an SS that had the compressor deleted but I suppose it may have been possible.

  25. Mine is a tilt also. This pos70 will always throw a wrinkle in things. A lot of strange things about this car. I so do wish I had a build sheet. Flint.

  28. And here is the other car I stopped to look at. It was at Hudson Auto Works, also in Greensboro. This car was actually pretty nice. Good bones. Nice paint and no visible rust or corrosion. Trunk interior looked great. The body tag (10/748) indicates it was originally Classic White with Black Prima Cloth Bench Seat (this one is vinyl). It's not numbers matching. I didn't get a lot of photos because I was with a salesperson who, by the way, was super cool. His name is Joe. If anyone is looking for a solid albeit unoriginal 70, this would be a good starting point. I thought the price was a bit high but still, solid car. Oh, it was a FGMCC member car so maybe someone recognizes it? They have a large indoor showroom, offsite from their main building, which is clean and well-lit. https://hudsonautoworks.com/inventory/37971/view/CC7747-W/Greensboro-NC/1970-Chevrolet-Monte Carlo

  29. Well guys, here are a few photos of the black '70 at GAA. In short, it wasn't very good. It looked like they (whoever 'they' are) hastily painted the car and just covered a lot of flaws (corrosion, rust, old flaky paint, etc). There are lots of sand scratches visible and lots of Bondo. I was pretty dismayed so I completely forgot to look at the body tag to see if it was originally a black/black black vinyl bucket car. They did install the missing A/C lines. The carb is a Quadrajet but it's not original as noted by the electric choke. Wrong exhaust manifolds. The undercarriage looked okay but was covered in undercoating, which made me wonder what it was covering. New exhaust. The trunk interior looked better than expected. The keys were in the car but I didn't bother starting it since I knew I wasn't interested. I found lots of NAPA and CarQuest receipts in the glovebox which appeared to be from the dealer who sent the car to auction. On the up side, as @Mopper77 said, the GAA place was pretty cool. BIG. LOTS of cars. The people working there were busy getting ready for the start of the auction today but they were very friendly and took time to show me where to find the car. All of the cars are stored indoors, which I wasn't expecting.

  30. All of mine are in a box somewhere 🤣 the attached is one for reference only, I did do this paint scheme along with a couple of other nascar rides. Probably the most obscure one I did was off the 2nd photo.....John Andretti's 98 decals mixed with Dale Jr's Budweiser. Nascar trivia time....1999 Daytona Bud shootout, Cale Yarborough Motorsports has and entry, and Dale Jr doesn't. CYM has no sponsor so Budwieser sponsored the 98 for the shootout .

  32. I completed a 1/16 kit of Harry Gant’s 1981 Grand Prix. When I started it was just a fun project as Harry Gant decals for this size of model weren’t even made. I managed to get a seller/producer of decals to create and produce them over the winter and they finally arrived in the mail this week.
