Both work on each other. Usually though the big block and high performance small blocks had the "canister" type pumps. The lower body of the pump is bigger. What is done to your 454 and what is it doing that you feel it's pump related?1 point

While I am happy with the kick panel speakers, I hoped I could do a bit better. Talked with a friend that does hi-power stereos. He'saware of my hearing difficulties and understands that pure volume is not the answer for me. He suggested I try some tweeters in the dash position, and he was right on! A pair of Alpine tweeters fit with no intereference and deliver the sound quality I wanted.1 point

actually mine is on top of the glove box not on the door. I'd have to remove the dash top to access it.1 point

Held mine down with strong double sided tape. I also have the compass/outside temp module (my steering wheel is hiding the display in the photo). you're right after tying up the wires there isn't much room for it to move if the tape gave out.1 point

Check with C.A.R.S. Inc. That's where mine is from. I had a interior shop install it . Still looks great after 17yrs! (oh my).1 point

As others have stated, for the long lower rocker trim use the Auveco clips. They work great.1 point
-
Like Dennis and Steve said, for the bottom rocker trim, the Auveco 8400 is the best option. They go on a particular way though, if installed wrong, they'll pop out. Not difficult to figure out, but I'll post a pic later, after I get home from Dr.1 point

To a certain person, not named Mike, I can only get you to the door and open it. You have to walk in by yourself. 😆1 point

A lot of years of practice. I have cars coming from all over the country. I'm sure you do some good work, it's a lot of work, and not for everyone.1 point

Welcome aboard Mike. WOW Mike, that is a ton of rust for one car to come back from. I would expect to see that much rust on a car up here in the winter salt area. It looks like it must have either come from up here or maybe it was found partially submerged along a costal beach down there in Florida. rob1 point

When it comes to that kind of work, a few of us are overwhelmed. Myself being one.1 point

A pillars are cheap and relatively easy to install, if you have a welder. I think the last ones I got were 78 a side.1 point

Doing a little test fitting today. Home because I tested positive for the virus so a few days of isolation and nothing else to do. Also did some checking last night and found my new valves are .115 taller than the stock heads. Called summit and the do not have any push rods that are .115 longer than what I have but do have some that are .132 longer. Boy we are having fun NOW. NOT1 point

Ditto on the bulb function. it is better to make sure all lights are right before re-installing dash. Lesson learned. By the way Semper Fi !!1 point

Hey now,Californians are cool. You just got to get to know them that's all. Be there ,done that,Easy Peasy.Out there in Oceanside '80-'81 and also with the son in '17-'21 . nothing better than hooking up with some friends of his and reminiscing about the old days on the beaches of California.1 point

Summit has always been great with any issue I had. When I had those 3 bad AMD rear bumpers, they were fantastic. Recently I tried to return some Black spray paint I didn't like. They can't take it back because it's 'hazardous', so they simply refunded the full cost and said toss it out, or use it somewhere else. One other time I forgot to add something to an order and called them right up after I noticed it. Well, I was too late, but they shipped out the part I needed, and waived the shipping fee entirely for that small part. Can't beat that!1 point

Welcome aboard, we hope you like what you see here and decide to become a full fledged dues paying member of the club. You have found the absolute best place to gather information on Frist Generation monte Carlo's. This site is very searchable, unlike some of the facebook pages you will come across. Our dues are only $25 per year and well worth the information you can get from the site and first hand knowledge from our members. Keep the pictures coming because we LOVE Pictures. rob1 point

Welcome Leo! Looking good!! I see the picture of the rear axle and the missing gas tank. I wanted to mention how on my 71 350 4bbl when I replaced all the original small fuel / vapor lines at the fuel tank one had a very small blue plastic restrictor (INSIDE THE HOSE) that I almost threw out! Here is a picture. If you have removed all the original emission stuff, it may not matter at all but I wanted to share my experience. Enjoy!1 point

Hi, John, My '70 was built in Baltimore with a heater only system. When I acquired it in 2010, I immediately removed the factory heater box and controls and installed a Classic Auto Air system. Since I seldom throw anything away (thinking myself or someone else may have a need for it someday 😄), I put all of the factory parts in a big box and put it into storage. I has now survived three different storage system moves but I believe it is all intact. If you are seriously interested, I can pull it out of storage and take some photos for you of what I have. At this point, I don't ever plan on returning my car to its original low-option configuration so I can make these parts available. I would think a salvage yard might be another good source for you but it would require a good deal of work to remove everything from a junked Monte. Just let me know. Thanks.1 point

Here are a few pics of my brothers 72 before he sold it. It had 15x7 factory Rally's and I believe 225/70r15 redlines. No clearance issues at all. Even if the car was lower the derby caps had ample clearance. Hope this helps. I like the BFG's. My son's Monte has the Cooper cobras on it and they are good. So he says. Lol1 point
