My younger brother and I did a low $ restoration on it around 1973. I had just finished upgrading the 75 when FL started emissions testing, couldn't get the 75 to run and pass emissions so took the whole drive train and dropped it in the 72, 72 was exempt from testing. cny first gen 71 Posted March 30 Share Posted March 30 Mark my dad had a 68 montego convertible and a 64 comet convertible would love to find one in his memory. He traded the 68 for a van and he wrecked the 64 one night when a tree jumped out in front of him. He walked home 3/4 of a mile with broken nose bloody face and got a neighbor to help him get it out. They ended up calling a tow truck and when police showed up every thing was under control he didn't ask any questions. It was a simpler time back then. I did help work on it when I was 15 - 18 years old. My Brother in-law and two of his friends owned it. I did get a ride one time WOW! I made this MINI Bike in 1966, that was fun.
