  2. Have been waiting for 6 weeks for a new tach and finally gave up today as I need to get the car back together for a car show this weekend. So, just finished putting my old tach back in the cluster and planned to put the dash back together tommorrow and just got a call tach should be here tommorrow. I guess that better than having to pull the dash back out.

  3. Electric fan wiring revision 3 lol. First shout out to HF for having the flex wire loom for $3 @ 10' instead of AZ selling 10' for $9. Couldn't find 1/2 anywhere so might have to run 2 3/8's , will make a few stops in my travels today. Didn't get much accomplished because of the wind and rain, only got a little over an hour in the garage. Anyway version 1 was running the wires with everything else along the firewall, got real busy looking with all the factory wires and stuff I added so nixed that. So mocked up running the wires tucked in behind the front bumper, looks a lot cleaner and nobody will know they're there except everyone here lol. So just hoping this is the last version on wiring and the next update will be "installed " lol.

  6. This is a bittersweet sight. But this is what I do for a living, restoring cars, so my name is on this car forever no matter who owns it, knowing I built a car from the ground up off the frame in my backyard and it's going to Mecum, this is a big deal. I thought about it myself but as well as it done at the local auction, after all the expenses and fees I would have to have gotten significantly more. This guy will too, he's in it for 57,750 before any fees at Mecum plus selling fees. https://www.mecum.com/lots/SC0522-502394/1970-chevrolet-monte-carlo-ss/

  7. Dennis i had the same fluffy stuff in one of the SS's i have. I also wouldn't leave it in there. You opened the can of worms, at least vacuum it out ant throw some dryer sheets in there then cover it up for now. Thats what i did!! I have to say it does look comfy!!! lol I put dryer sheets in all my parts cars, yearly. And believe it or not they do work!! I also spray peppermint around the area, that seems to work also. The only bugger i know that is around is a racoon and i haven't gotten around to catch that PIA yet. But he doesn't hurt any thing.

  10. Kevin, I think what you are referring to is the neutral safety switch. To the best. Of my knowledge our cars did not have a park interlock. A park interlock is used to keep the shifter from moving if the brake is not depressed and that safety didn't come out until much later. rob

  11. Well, not reallh but my body feels like it. Our youngest son has a very nice North Carolina 1997 BMW 328i that even though it has about 140,000 miles on it. He has had it a couple years and completely reconditioned the interior. It had been an automatic transmission but last year, over the winter he swapped it over to a 5 speed manual. The issue this caused was the rear end was not geared properly for a standard transmission. He was able to pick up a used differential/rear end from a u-pullit lot. While it was up on jack stands and since we had to pull the exhaust to get to the bolts on the drive shaft we went ahead and did some exhaust work. We started on this the first thing this morning and just finished up about an hour ago. This is the longest I have crawled around under a car (11 hours) and if nothing else, it has let me know maybe I am getting too old to spend that much time laying under cars. As anyone who works on cars can attest to, when you get into the final stretch on a car project, some of the pain starts to ease and it feels good to get it down off the jack stands. I was way too greasy/dirty when my son said "Let's take a test drive" so I told him to go ahead and do the test drive by yourself and I will clean up all the tools and put everything away. Prior to the rear end swap today the gearing was so off that you could pull away from a dead stop in third gear without any issues. Back to the test drive.... I really didn't need to do the ride along on the test drive because the smile on his face told it all. All was good in BMW-Land. I can tell you after a long day like this........... long showers are really underrated. rob

  12. I had a heck of a time trying to get the air out of the lines on my car. We finally resorted to the 2 man method. Still couldn't get a solid pedal until we put about 2 quarts of brake fluid through it. It seemed to help to pump the pedal a few times before opening the bleeder screw.

  21. We are only 7 weeks away from kicking off the Eastern Meet. Things are moving along very well and moving from the Planning Stage to the Final Preparation Stage. All of the name badges have been printed and placed into the name badge plastic holders, All of the member check-in folders have been prepared with member judging forms, member judging dash cards have been printed, the itinerary, award dinner menu and any other items the members will need.. The Award Dinner location and menu have been set up. The Club Award Plaques have been ordered and received. Most of the door prizes and goodie bag items have been received. I will be trying to tie up any loose ends over the next few weeks. I do have a few loose ends that some assistance will be needed. They are listed below: FGMCC Kids At Carlisle-- Awhile back I asked if anyone would be interested in planning a few activities for the kids that would be coming. Below is the information I sent out. If anyone would like to volunteer for this please let me know: In the First Generation Monte Carlo Club is something we frequently refer to as our “Monte Family” At our meets we welcome our members to bring their children or grandchildren. At our Eastern Meet there is usually anywhere from 6 to 10 kids in attendance. We are looking at kids from I think 12 to 19 or years of age. Many of these kids have been coming to our meets for many years and have formed friendships over these years. If anyone would be interested in volunteering to plan some activities for our Monte Family Kids please let me know. I will help you out in any way I can to help you make this a success. This could be outdoor activities, pool area activities, show field activities. It would not need to be all of these areas, they are only suggestions. If we get a couple volunteers they could work together. Thursday Afternoon Member Games- Awhile back I asked if anyone would be interested in planning some games for our members. Here is the message I had sent out and as yet I have not had any members show an interest in planning and running some games: On Thursday afternoon we would like to have 2 or 3 games, either driving games or stand-alone games. I am looking for a member that would be willing to plan these games. If you would be willing to volunteer be a part of this activity, please contact me. I will try to come up with a prize for up to 3 game activities. Coolest Club Hangout- Carlisle Events gives a banner to the club on the show field that decorates their Club Canopy. We won this award in 2020 and were edged out by the Fiero club last year. Let's try to get this award back this year. At this point in time we have a couple members bringing Knights go decorate the canopy and member Jack Cooper has purchased state flags that we will display at the canopy with with a state flag for every state that is being represented by a club member. Member Steve Lavoie is bringing an American Flag and Sue and Roy Bunjes are bringing a Canadian. I was also wondering if by chance anyone has a Ukraine flag we could maybe display that too. If anyone has any kind of Knight or Castle theme items we could display we could also do that. We are open to any ideas. Here is the message I sent out awhile back: Carlisle Events awards a banner to the car club that has the “Coolest Club Hang-out” In 2020 our club won this award banner and last year the Fiero Club took this banner away from us. We need to come up with a way that we can bring this banner back home to the First Generation Monte Carlo Club. I am looking for a couple volunteers to come up with some ideas on decorating our club canopy. I know a couple members have Knights that they bring and we have been know to decorate these knights to draw attention. One of the knights even supported a cigarette and club jacket. I am sure we can talk the members to bring their knights again this year. I have made hand made numerous Monte Carlo castle style flags/banners with the Monte Carlo Grill emblem on each of them that we can display. I would like to see at least one American Flag for the club to display. There are many ways we can decorate the club canopy to draw attention to the judges As a group on Thursday, we will go to the show field as a group to do this decorating. The decoration as a group usually only takes about a half hour. If you would like to volunteer head up the decorating of the club canopy, please let me know and let me know what ideas you may have for the decorations. If anyone has some suggestions, please let us know, let’s knock this one out of the park. Address any questions to me at: rob29ford@aol.com Thursday Pizza Party- We have a very large group who are planning to participate in the Thursday Evening Pizza Party at the hotel. I do not need any volunteers for this. For everyone joining in for the Pizza Party the cost will be $6.00 Per person. If possible please have exact change for this activity, it will make the collection for this much easier. Awards Dinner- The dinner buffet for the Awards Dinner will be a prepaid thing at the cost of $21.00 per each adult and child 14 and older and $7.00 for each child up to and including 13 year olds. I will be collecting this money and getting a head count for the restaurant when you check in with me. To make this go smoother, please have exact change for this upon checking in with me. Now all we have to do is wait the the big event to arrive Thanks To All for your participation Rob Peters

  22. Hopefully not. It sat in a field for 10-15 years but was in a garage the last three. I’m sure that there are bodies in that mess. I’ll just put the pad back on and pretend that I didn’t see it.

  24. The 'park interlock' is mechanical on these cars, using the back drive linkage to the transmission and steering column sleeve. The mechanical parts of it in the column also stop the steering wheel from turning when it's locked. The NSS would be the thing stopping you from starting it though as Tom and Rob mentioned.

  25. Thanks for all the suggestions. fortunately, the problem was the park interlock switch. I ran it through the gears a couple of times and it started right up. Again thanks for all the suggestions.

  26. Started laying out the wires and relays for the electric fans yesterday, of course with all the rolls of wire I have the gauge I need is NOT "in stock" lol. Will get some today. Then as I was enjoying an adult cold beverage pondering the next days activities it hit me, I gotta cut all those old zip ties and lace the new wires in the flex tubes to keep it clean looking. Oh well add a couple more hours to the project lol.

Pristine condition, 20 grand buys it but not for me.. also, what does CL stand for on the mint color Monte in the picture???.
