Ok guys here’s an update… I was stationed in Shannon in the 80’s when I … only kidding 😁 I placed the solenoid on the chassis. You would think there’s loads of space in a Monte but to hide it and be able to access wiring, not so much. Happy with this spot. Nice chunky 1 gauge cables going to battery, and battery terminal on starter. All the small cables have lots of space away from the exhaust and block to keep cool. I soldered what I could but most are crimped and she started first go yesterday. The real test is a hot start, so I need to bring her for a spin when the weather stops being so Irish ☘️7 points

I got the hood back on the car today with help from Carl I gotta call it project complete. I do have to say I highly recommend hood hinge repair I am 100 percent happy with the rebuild hinges, they hold the hood up perfectly at any height. They are a little stiff right now but I assume they will break in somewhat. Please disregard the dust it's very dirty needs a good clean up.4 points

I believe that I’ve previously mentioned that in my younger years I was routinely presented with the RICO Award at work Christmas parties: RUDE - IGNORANT - CRASS - OBNOXIOUS I’m proud to say I held that title for 6 consecutive years. And NOW you know the rest of the story…😂🤣3 points

To our members, We have created a new “Mini Meet” area in the Forums. Please take a look at it. There are threads for each upcoming Mini Meet and a Club calendar on the right side of the page. There are 3 Mini Meets, the Eastern and Western Meets for a total of 5 Club sponsored events in 2023. This is a new Club milestone with 5 events this year, for our dues paying members. A great way to see some Monte Carlo’s, meet and spend some time with with other like Monte people and join us for some of our famous “bench racing” sessions. You can participate with or without your Monte. We hope you will come join us at one or more of these Club events in 2023. Thank you, CK2 points

Is anyone else going to this coming weekends spring Daytona turkey run at the speedway? If so, Ill be there all weekend and this can be a potential great venue for future FGMCC mini meets. I will use this thread to see if there is any interest and move forward from there. Ill be attending with the local car group, located at the turn 4 area, between the garage and tunnel. Come see me if you are at the show. We will be grilling and chilling most of the day.2 points

Thanks Dan and Willie. She is coming along. Stopped by last weekend to check on progress, they were refitting the 1/4's in prep for finally welding into place. I feel this is a major milestone! Yeah!! Didnt take in pics because I being talked into another purchase, but declined. It was a 67 Camaro convertible. Restored 20 years ago and barely driven since. 327/AT. SS emblems but couldn't verify if it was a real SS. Real nice looking car, maroon with white interior and top. I'm itching to get another old car that runs and drives now, because I feel the Monte is going to take at least another year to get finished. I'm actually looking for a Buick GS. I've always loved Buicks since I was a kid, and had quite a few back in the day. John2 points

So my latest mishap is this, I got hood all ready for paint and started painting, I didn't like the way the paint was laying out so I stopped. Wet sanded after it dried good and was ready to do it again after making a couple adjustments in spray pattern volume and air pressure. So mixed up the last about 3/4 of a quart of paint (plenty to finish) while going to garage from laundry room (where I mixed it) I went to grab a strainer and dropped the quart can of paint. What a freaking mess, most of it landed on a stair that's carpet so it soaked it up and that carpet is going to be replaced anyhow but I got it all over me my hands face and clothes and in one eye too, I look like a smerf. So I sprayed out what little paint I have left and it's off to spend another $150.00 on more paint. Morel of the story is if it not that bad leave the damn thing alone.1 point
