  1. I've been wanting this done for quite a while, finally got it done. With everything that has gone on the last couple years with me and still going on I just said it's time to get it done so now it's done! It's there forever.

  4. We are now at 61 days and a wake-up until our first members will start arriving in Carlisle for the Eastern Meet. I know, 61 days sounds like a lifetime but that also means it is only two months and a wake-up away. rob

  5. I drove the 70 Monte to work today. It drives really nice. Engine has good power and the rebuilt trans is nice and smooth. Here is a photo on the way to work where I got stopped for construction for a few minutes.

  6. Had breakfast with my Dad and my second favorite mechanic yesterday. Iโ€™ve previously mentioned that Terry had owned a โ€˜71 SS that he sold many years ago, but heโ€™s still finding various parts, memorabilia and literature etc. Yesterday he gave me a few โ€œSuper Chevysโ€ magazines from โ€˜84 and โ€˜85. Attached are some pix and Monte-related articlesโ€ฆ can you find the two unicorns? ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ Hint: oneโ€™s โ€œdown underโ€ and oneโ€™s pulling the front tires off the ground. Thereโ€™s a nice 2 page article on the โ€˜71 SS which appears on the cover of the July 1985 edition of Super Chevys โ€œChevy Show Placeโ€ Looks exactly like Dennisโ€™, minus the bananas in the tailpipes And Iโ€™m definitely curiousโ€ฆ were some of the owners as listed 40 years ago ever FGMCC members? Are these folks still alive? Are any of the Montes still around under different ownership? Perhaps some of you senior FGMCC members might know of these folks and cars.

  10. Welcome Brant !!! As you can see, no shortage of members here looking to say, hello and assist you when needed. We do run multiple Club Events yearly including the Eastern and Western Meets, Syracuse Mini Meet and also a Mini Meet in Bristol Tennessee. All of these events are tied to various car shows or events. Well worth being a part of this Club as a First Generation Monte owner. We hope you become a dues paying member and come join us. Plenty of opportunity to experience all that we offer and well worth the very small price of $25.00. We have quite a few members from your home state too.

  13. Hereโ€™s the entire February 1984 issue of โ€œSuper Chevys Limited, dedicated to our First Gens. Since the pictures likely wonโ€™t load sequentially, I made sure the page numbers are visible. The color photos are the covers. Enjoyโ€ฆ

  20. The โ€˜71 came out of hibernation Friday. The โ€˜70 was extracted from her cocoon today. Both gave me no issues starting and felt great on the 10 - 12 mile initial ride. The AC compressor on the โ€˜71 gave up the ghost (the pretty green dye in the refrigerant matches the Lime Green Poly perfectly ๐Ÿ˜‚), but whatya gonna do? New compressor already ordered and hopefully delivered and installed in time for Carlisle. PS - the day I figure out how to get pictures loaded in sequence is the day Dennisโ€™ feet donโ€™t appear in his pictures

  21. Hello I'm Brant K and want to say hello to all first gen owners. I've had a total of 4 first gen MC's [3 back in highschool] which has been a while-63 now- and with my recent purchase of a 1972 MC custom {blue} which was owned by Jared Richey a few years ago. I'm trying to gain more information on this car if at all possible from some of you who may know him and or would like to speak to Jared about the car. If anyone would like to pass on my number to Jared please do so. 734-560-8834 Thanks and have a great evening Br

  22. Thanks for posting! After I bought my 71, my high school friend got a 71 SS 454, tan with a dk brn vinyl roof like in one of the pictures. Sadly he was T Boned while driving it, when a dump truck ran a red light. No injuries but totaled the SS 454. ๐Ÿ˜ž

  44. Spent the weekend getting her ready for spring.... IF that every comes. lol Changed oil & filter, lubed the front end, re jetted the carb, chased that "mystery wire" down, pulled the rear seat.... and "no", there's no paperwork tucked in there. Put the re conditioned dash and battery back in, added a squirt of gas down the carb...... And "BINGO"!!! She fired right up. Now, just need to get the new tires on and wait out the snow the weather woman says is coming tonight.
