MTMonte
New member from MT. Just inherited a 1971 Monte Carlo second owner car from my father-in-law. Sat in his barn for 35 years. Has all registration tags from 1971-1987 when it was stored. Even have original dealer window sticker.

Rob Peters
Michael, As others have said, it really cleaned up nicely. Do you know why your father-in-law stored it in the barn all of those years? Yes, that is a factory AC setup. Looking forward to seeing your progress. rob
Marks71
Welcome, that’s a heck of a good starter point. Plus it’s a big block. Looks like you have the factory radio too. Interior looks good, and I’d bet that drivers door panel is somewhere with the car. If it’s not a Flint built car I’d bet there’s a build sheet somewhere also. The first and easiest place to look is under that back seat which you’ll probably be pulling anyway during your cleanup. Good luck

Never got back around to it I guess. Passed away two years ago to cancer. Now it’s known as “Papa‘s ride “ which I plan in getting on the license plates. I took it off to fix a broken screw. Just didn’t put it back on yet. I have the original dealer window sticker as well and all the registration tabs from 1971-1987 when he parked it.
Canuck
Welcome! You came to the right place. I’ve been through Kalispell before and know a family with two 1970 Montes in Columbia Falls. Our Western Meet is in Summerland, BC this September if you were interested in meeting some club members. There will be members from 6 states and 2 provinces from as far as Arizona. The meets are a great time even if you can’t bring the Monte.

He had his son’s Green 1970. It’s getting ready for a new top. Unfortunately it doesn’t work for me to get to the meet this year but looking forward to it in the future.
420ponies
Man, that looks great from the picture in the barn. Should clean up easy. If you need the top to " soften up" Home depot sells some furniture polish that has beeswax in it. I use it on mine once a month or so. Make's it look like new. I'm out of it right now and can't remember the name. Nice color combo too. The motor turns over by hand?
Montemedic
Welcome Michael and thank you for becoming a full dues paying member. Nice 71 big block, all intact and passed down and staying in the family. A great story. We love photos and questions. Plenty of technical advice here too. As Aaron let you know, the Club has multiple Meets during the year. When you’re available, please come join us. A great way to meet and be with some of the members you talk to on the Forums, see some Monte Carlo’s, and have a great time. We are family friendly too. Enjoy !!!
