CKZ03
I like the tag like that Cory, looks real nice!! The car is coming along real nice, cant wait to see it done (What color is that your spraying it? I love it!) I remember blocking my hood, it definately is a workout! The quarters arent too much fun either Actually now that I think of it, I dont think I have been in nearly as good a shape as when I was blocking my Monte down, cardio at its best! Tony the color is a 2012 Dodge color, code is PRP, deep cherry cyrstal pearcoat. has a very nice pearl/metallic flake thing happenin, doesnt show up too well in pics though, but a very nice color for me I think. Plus its not a tri-coat if you know what I mean. Been blocking primer for the last 2 days & your right, sure was easier in my younger days, now Im old & out of shape, pretty much wearing me out. Definetly a workout , but the end is near & tons of the hard stuff is done, all thats left is to put the icing on the cake, MMMMM!!!
7tonemonte
MMmmm Icing Im familiar with the color Cory, I love it! I have saved a test panel of it from a previous job just because I liked the color so much. Hope to see it at Carlisle, the final stages are actually fun and its easy to keep motivated when your seeing progress daily! Good luck on the paint,
CKZ03
Yep, nice color, saw it sitting on a car out in the sun in our lot & said "that's the color I'm looking for". Sure is hard to pick out a color when your a painter & the possibilities are endless, fortuneatly this one came easy. Going to Carlilse no matter what, pushing real hard to finish the car in time. If its not done I still might trailer it anyhow, hope the next 56 days go smoothly for me. Crunch time for sure.

Chevyss
Went to the BS to check on the progress and it was awful. Paint did not even come close. Going tomorrow to help the guy and see if I can get it out of the shop. I have been able to drive it in over a month. MDS disease is what I have. Dans '70 Z20
Cory, Looks like things are coming along fine. Love the color. Looks like you will make it at this rate but dont kill yourself. There is always next year. Love the polished tag to. Is that chromed or polished .... really allows you clear view of all the pertinent ID info. Mine will have to have its first showing next time 'round. It'll be close but Steve has some paint work & pulling vinyl top to peak underneath/replace which he wants to accomplish before Carlisle. At least she'll be cruisin' for summer! Dan

RDLBOX1970
Well, two things I did last few days. 1] I checked for the first time since we bought the Monte the engine casting and code identification numbers. I was worried that in the 43 years someone may have replaced the engine. To my delight I found that the engine is the original from the factory. It even has the vin stamped on the deck behind the alternator! The stamp on the front of the eng was decoded to this: CRE 1970 350 tur 350 300 4 A F X and has the vin stamp matching my vin. The back casting number reads; 1970-73 970014 350cid 200low 300high 2/4 bolt main LA built for Camaro Build date J=Sept, 16 day 9=1969 2] I replaced the upper control arms. Very easy I might add. Yes, I did clean the engine areas that I had to scrape to find those casting numbers and touched up the paint.

CKZ03
Love the polished tag to. Is that chromed or polished .... really allows you clear view of all the pertinent ID info. Dan Hey Dan was really hoping to see your car at Carlisle, hope you will be there though. I stripped the black paint off my trim tag using a liquid/gel paint stripper to take it down to the bare aluminum then polished it, its pretty shiney, almost looks like chrome. Re-attached the tag with these rivets I found on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/310354003089 Got all the body panels on my car yesterday, aligned & fitted in their final resting position. Was doing more block sanding this morning, got all but 2 partial quarters left to sand down yet.

LostnFound
I got mine out of storage today. I uncovered it, put the battery in it and she fired right up with a few pumps of the pedal. All feels right in the world. I however did not have a chance to clean it up. I was side tracked by yard work! YUK! The older I get, the more effect it has on me. It won't be easy getting outta bed tomorrow morning. LOL

Montemedic
Finally got some time to clean up my car and meet the boys at a local weekly Saturday night "Cruise In" it was opening night with a nice turnout. It was good to see Steve, Scott , Dan and Greg there. I have been working 6-7 days a week for months now and really needed to get something accomplished with the car and get out and finally drive my Monte. It felt great, and am hoping to get out whenever my schedule will allow.
CKZ03
After about 20 some hours of block sanding Im nearly ready to paint, finished up sanding both quarters tonight. Had to drill a few holes in my passenger door to get this mounted up. Just pre drilling my holes, obviously wont be painted on the car. Found this on a 72 Custom parts car I bought that was built in Canada. Couldnt be happier
D.E
CKZ02 what is the final grit paper you are block sanding with to put on color.Used to you could get away with 320 but this BC/CC now I don't know.I'm old school lacquer. Thanks
Leghome
When we painted my 72 two weeks ago we used 400 grit before painting. On the clear they started with 1000 grit then 1500 grit and finally 2500 grit. After the 2500 the car actually had somewhat of a shine to it. If using a sealer prior to base you can get away with 280-320. If not sealing 400-600 depending on color/metallics. On my car I'm chosing not to use a sealer and final sanding with 500 dry. Whole car was primed the blocked with 150/180 then primed again & blocked out again with 320. After blocking with 320 I went back over everything with 500 on a soft pad just to "knock down" the 320 scratches, so not using a sealer & I'm going straight to color. 7tonemonte
DE, I would go no courser than 400 grit, I went to 600 on my car, and i used a sealer prior to basecoat also to aid in adhesion, helps with sand scratches too
