Hi Mark,

Yeah, the local shop mentioned them too..... By the time all was calculated, I was looking at about $1000.00 (cdn) to get it done. Close to $800.00 to get a new one from OPGI as well.

Other than the one major crack, the rest is in pretty good shape. And now that I've got that dealt with, I just need to repaint it. SEM seems to be a popular choice so far..... Am just curious as to hear what kind of results people have had.

I was fortunate enough to find a very close match to the factory color using one of their standard colors, and since I was repainting the lower portion of the dash also, an exact match wasn’t really necessary. If I recall, I used 2 different types. One for the metal lower and one for the padded vinyl. I was very happy with the results.

Nothing like the smell of fresh exhaust on a chilly winter's day, too!!

Especially high octane racing fuel

Absolutely love the smell of my 112 octane !!!

14.25 to 1 compression demands rather high octane !! 😆

Luckily that's not an (Expensive) issue for me...yet!  Premium pump gas seems to be fine (91 Octane).

Took mine out of garage today let it run for a few minutes,  started right up after pumping some fuel to carb. Thought about taking it around the block but still salt on roads so I didn't.

I've found a couple local places that carry paint that might do the trick..... Have to check them out. :)

I had to put a steering column in the chevelle today because I gave the one that was in it to my brother, floor shift non tilt ( not happy about that since I’ll have to do it again lol) but after I fired it up to check everything I decided to fire up Green. A little hard to start but once it kicked, smooth as glass. I’m still debating on bringing it to Carlisle. So I kinda did something to my Monte today.

Transportation is key. Mark wants to rent a double car hauler. lol. I told him no. Two trucks would be easier.

Nothing actually, just sat and looked at how purty she is. I swear I think she just winked at me .. oh well, could have been winking at the beauty next door too. I’ll never tell. Come on spring please….

Last Saturday, got the 70 out, and up on the lift to remove both bumpers. Last Monday, they were both dropped off at Librandi's Plating near Harrisburg, PA for restoration and re-chroming.

Took about 2 weeks to do because of the temperature and rainy weather but repainted the roof supports interior trim next to the dash. Wear of previous owners getting in and out rubbing paint odd with there shoulder or arm. Had to take them down to bare metal to get any type paint to adhere.. turned out much better. Not professional but much better… IMG_2503.thumb.png.a79d480fdd25e20641f153e3f8275c68.pngIMG_2502.thumb.jpeg.f3624f953c21855ac7c771e7105f4d93.jpegIMG_2501.thumb.jpeg.e9412fd529fa4d70c2d46e375a80f295.jpeg

After sanding them down and you had a nice shiny polished bare metal look you should have clear-coated them for an interesting chrome like modified look..  it may be an alteration from Factory Correct demerit but what the heck.

I wasn’t aware of that. I don’t remember seeing any with them.

72 Customs come with that driver side mirror. I think you could get a passenger side as well in Canada, from what I remember seeing here in the past.

Yes Joe, I think a set from the factory.  Good Luck finding a right side!!!  Like finding a spec of dirt in a ton of hay!!!
