  2. Hey Tony!!! How are you and they family doing? Great to see you here! I was having the same problem as you and Mark for awhile, but it did straighten out after some time and patience. I am not very good on the computer and i refer myself as computer illiterate. But thanks to my kids they get me back all the time. LOL

  4. Same here! My 71 started life as a base 350 bench seat car with AC and it has the belt line molding. Iā€™ve owned the car 43 years and didnā€™t know this was an option until I saw it here recently. I was just telling my wife how much I learn here!

  5. I'm using the android phone now til they string a new cable tomorrow, but I've always preferred the PC/laptop to the phone for internet. Like you said Dennis, a big difference.

  6. Lifted the hood last weekend as the temperature rose to over 75 here. Got everything in my garage soaked, and my engine was drenched and dripping water off it from condensation. I put a fan blowing under the hood to dry it out, my new master cylinder is trashed, as I didnā€™t paint it before installing. I donā€™t know why I didnā€™t, now I have something to do I guess. Was going to hit a cars and coffee in the morning, but itā€™s snowing bad here right now, calling for about 6ā€ šŸ˜”

  7. Stupid phone. I think I will get the hot tub going this year. I pull the pump every fall and drain it. Never turned the heater on. I want to be lazy and think also. Lol. But if I do that I will have to have a custom cover made. Expensive. So I think I will probably pass. It seats 6 comfy but only about 10 jets. But I donā€™t think sitting on stone excites me that much. Lol. Especially if I turn the waterfall on. But I could get some super models to shower in there. O who am I kidding. Lol. It would make for some good pictures.

  8. Itā€™s crazy that my car has basically no options, but has the belt line molding. Never understood why some people checked off the boxes they did back in the day! šŸ¤£

  10. I do everything on my iPhone. But lately it really sucks. New one is on order from work ( they pay). So I got on the laptop for the first time in years. Itā€™s amazing the difference between the two formats. So much more on the laptop. So Iā€™m having Karen order herself and new laptop and printer ( she uses it all the time and never uses her phone) and Iā€™m snagging her old one.

  12. Iā€™m late to the party, as usual. 1-2 inches. Waste of time. But I'll bet they salted the crap out of the roads. It is cold though. 23 degrees with a feels like temperature of 3. Lol. I think this will be our last blast. I agree Willie, Iā€™m done with it. Next week has 70ā€™s in it.

  14. Joe looks like you have your work cut out for you this weekend. The more you go into that hot tub, with or without the better half, the harder it is going to be getting back into the garage... As far as the white stuff All 3 of you guys can keep it. Done, done, done, with it!!!

  15. I just had to shovel 2" of snow off the hot tub to get in it. That's from a couple hours of snow & it's supposed to keep going to around 6 AM. Needless to say, not going back in the shop now. Damned hot tub is ruining me šŸ¤£.

  16. 2400 stall, 3:42 posi , 29" in tall tire (275/60/15), has the lockup switch. 420hp. What cam? Normal rpm range on street is 1800-6200rpm's. At 70 mph , it's running right at 2,000 rpm's. knocked down 17mpg with my setup. Not too shabby. PTC Converter.

  17. These detents plates have been selling very well. I've now sold over 300 of my Chevrolet designs, with a satisfaction guarantee, and no one had asked for a refund. With the shipping cost increases, I had to raise the shipping charge to $8 in the states. Total price is $98, which is still less than many companies sell my competitor's parts for, and my design is an improvement over their design. I now have over a dozen detents for different makes and models, and I'm working on more. Thank you to all of my customers. Dan

  19. Also the heat generated by the slip of the high stall is a killer to 700r4s. Call a converter company with all the specs of the car and see what they recommend. Coan, ptc, continental etc. I have a PTC in "Big Red". It's custom built for my combo with a th400. Tight enough to act like a stock converter for street driving but stalls to 4k at the track.

  20. If the Belt molding is what you desire , Check with Jared . I had 4 complete set. Kept a set and Jared got the other sets. I personally feel that they really are an enhancement to the First Gen Monte

  25. usually not a good thing (at least initially) when a mom and pop widget company gets eaten up by" big corp" - either on hostile terms or just by necessity... nothin' beats doing business with a firm handshake and a first name basis...fewer and far between in this seemingly "new world order" we find ourselves in... a few years back when dealing with a bank I've been with for 30 years they looked at me like a stranger with 2 heads ...I said, in my world you'd refinance the loan, shake my hand across a big oak desk, ask me about the family, then share a scotch...he then mused, "I'm with you on that- but you're 100 years too late!"

  26. I took it for a test drive today with new shocks. Great ride . No topping out. Good fix ! Monroe 5820 OESpectrum shocks donā€™t cut the restraint strap on shocks until AFTER getting nuts/bolts at least threaded together. Shock may be too long to connect bottom bolt if you do cut it

  29. I just told someone at work the other day that hot tub has ruined me, lol. Plenty of times I'll jump in it instead of working on the car, and just sit there and think of all the things I should be doing instead.

  30. You got it worse than we did. It actually didn't amount to a whole lot in the end, 2-4 inches maybe in spots. I was up at 6 AM, shoveled and snow blowed a little bit. Wasn't even worth pulling the truck out, the sun will melt the rest I figure.

  32. At least with the dvr, I can rewind the show back to the spots I fell asleep at. Glad you got to drive the car today. Sounds like you're getting the same storm system as us, it's getting old... Clocks change tomorrow night, at least we're getting closer. Supposed to be in the 60's by mid-week.... goofy weather.

  39. Not only can the mighty '72 drive while in park but it can do all that without spilling a drop of coffee! That video shows the greatness of the 1972 Monte. Wait, was there a song too? Hmmm... missed it.

  41. Many years ago when I had my 1966 Impala SS I put those top shock spacers in because I lifted my rear springs the same way and needed more travel. It changed the angle of the shock absorbers and ripped the spacers out of the frame crossmember where they mounted. Nothing a wire feed welder and some metal couldnā€™t fix. Personally I think those top shock spacers are a ā€œbad ideaā€. John S

  42. I believe the short answer is "no". The only productions numbers I have ever seen for RPO B85 Beltline Reveal Moldings is that 900 of the 145,976 Montes built in 1970 were shipped with that option. That is only six tenths of one percent. There may also have been a few that were dealer-installed. I have never seen comparable production data for that option for the '71 Montes but there were undoubtedly a few, again, probably less than one percent of the 128,600 built. RPO B85 was included in the 1972 Custom package (RPO Z03) but production numbers for that package either never existed or have not yet been discovered but it is thought to be rather low. Based on the twelve years I have closely followed the forums on this website, I would conclude that original Reveal moldings are currently not readily available and I am not aware of any source of reproductions.

  43. Pix from last year. Was gonna take her out this past Saturday as it was 70 degrees here and thereā€™s little-to-no salt left on the streets, only work had other plans for me šŸ˜”. Hopefully soon, and I promise thereā€™ll be pix to commemorate her first drive of 2022.

  47. Here's an update after I got the wires installed. I would have to say that this set from Lectric Limited fits as good or better than any I've seen before. I'd recommend the set. I also purchased new valve cover wire looms/holders. I'm looking for two special looms for the left bank that I'll create a different post about. @jft69z

  48. Good Evening to you all, If you are receiving this email it is because I have you on the list as coming to the FGMCC 2022 Eastern Meet in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. This is shaping up to be one of the largest Eastern Meets we have ever had. As of tonight only one room is left in our block of rooms at the club host hotel. I have requested extra rooms but I don't have much hope in getting any rooms added to our block. It seems the hotel is already almost totally sold out. If in the future it looks like you will not be able to attend but are holding a reservation please do not cancel your room because it looks like I will have to start a list of members in need of a room and I would like to fill our "Block Rooms" with club members and if you cancel your room we may lose that room from our block. REGISTERING YOUR CAR: If you have not already registered your car please do so as soon as possible. If we get enough early registrations the Carlisle Events people will provide the club with a free club canopy. I also ask you to properly register your car in the appropriate class. You can register your car by going to the following link: https://store.carlisleevents.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=2022-031 When registering your car please use the following guidelines: STOCK CLASS: In stock class your car will need to be as close to how it originally left the factory. You will not be allowed any more than 3 alterations from factory correct. Each individual item from factory correct will be considered an alteration. In other words if you have a non factory air cleaner that is one alteration. If you have non factory valve covers that is an alteration, if you have after market headers that is another alteration, if you have visible electronic ignition that is an alteration. Each alteration is an individual alteration. If you have an after market radio that is an alteration. If you have pin striping that is an alteration. STREET CLASS: In street class your car would be allowed 4 to 6 alterations from factory correct. Again, each individual item from factory correct will be considered an alteration. MODIFIED CLASS: In modified Class any car with 7 or more alterations will be considered Modified. We do allow safety items that will not be counted as alterations such as passenger side rear view mirrors or after-market 3-point seat belts. If you have any questions on safety modifications please ask me if they will be accepted as a non-alteration. For those arriving on Thursday, we will have our usual Pizza Party for our Thursday Dinner. As usual this will be a per person charge for the pizza and everyone will supply their own beverages. Unless prices have gone up I am going to try to keep the cost at the usual $5.00 Per Person. On Friday and Saturday we will leave the hotel as a group and gather outside the show field gates and try to enter the field as a group. I am in the process of starting to arrange the club Award Dinner for Saturday evening. With a group this large it will present issues of finding a venue large enough for all of us. More news on this will follow. This will be the first message to all members who will be attending. As more news develops I will send additional emails and posts here on the boards to keep you all updated. All questions should be directed to me at my email of rob29ford@aol.com Rob Peters
